Gotta a little break from gaming this mid-weekend of mine, and so here's what I've done so far.
I skipped out on continuing with Resistance 3. Just couldn't get myself to plop down into a meat grinder after a week's break.
I skipping playing InFamous 2 and Condemned 2: Bloodshot as well. I remember getting stuck and really frustrated with InFamous 2 a year or so ago and didn't want to revisit that. And I played Condemned 2 on 360 just a few months ago. I think I'll trade my PS3 copy, as I don't really need it. I'm keeping InFamous 2 though. It's an exclusive, and I'll return to it eventually. It's not really bad, just I am.
What I did play a lot of so far is The Ratchet & Clank Collection and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. R&C 1 lasted until the first hover board race which I needed to win and couldn't after two tries. I've beat it in a previous play but didn't feel like repeating it a lot. I needed it to advance and so moved on to Going Commando and then Up Your Arsenal. Neither lasted very long because I was getting frustrated with the fighting. Why does Ratchet always have to holster his gun when not being used, so that when you need it, you have to click twice to get it to fire? This delay is very annoying when surprised by enemies, which can happen when the camera doesn't always reveal what's directly ahead of you. And OmniWrench attacks can have a delay after each swipe, which if you have multiple enemies, can leave openings to getting hit, and you can only take four hits before having to respawn a bit back in the level. Small complaints, sure, but over time they get really annoying. That being said, I love the R&C games and will continue to replay them. Oh, one more complaint. You have to exit the whole game to get back to the main menu to choose another in the series. Why?
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is genius and I'll replay it on every system I can. I played as Alex Kidd exclusively.
I limited myself to playing World Tour mode as far as I could in C class races. Then I did a 4 race Championship, Time Trial and a Single Race on B class. C Class is pretty easy wins, and I can reliably win on B Class races as well. A Class is where it's at, but I stopped playing to leave myself plenty to return to next time. I got a lot of stuff to go through on PS3.
Purchased
Skylanders Spyro's Adventure and Giants for Wii ($5 each). Yes, I will play these on every system I can.
I want to play the first Disney Infinity game on PS3/Wii as well, but I discovered I don't have a portal for those systems. They are like the Skylanders portals. Each are specific to a system with PS3/Wii sharing the same portal. I'm going to hunt for one on Friday. I also need the Skylanders Giants game for PS3. The other Disney Infinity and Skylanders games I will reserve for the following gen systems, X1/PS4/Wii-U.
Recently I just finished LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Very good game. High production values and it's one of the few games lately that made me laugh out loud. Now I'm playing mostly Nintendo Switch Sports Resort. I'll have a blog about that up around mid November or so.
I want to get back to some Lego games. I ran through like half of them a few years ago and stopped. I wonder if I should replay one on my PS3, now I think of it, you know, for trophies.
