Games Beaten
I didn't beat any games in July but man, I am so close on two of them. If I had had more time for games in July, there would be little blurbs here instead.
Games Bought
A game purchased! For money! That game is The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu (PS5), a 4-player co-op Lovecratian survival/greed simulator that has some real teeth. PS+ was a decent month also. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (PS5) is a game I would enjoy playing through but it has a huuuuuuge download size. Maybe someday. CrossCode (PS5) is an action RPG that I have nearly bought several times and I guess procrastination paid off in this case. Lastly, (here's some context) we have a Switch game called For the King. It's some kind of RPG/tabletop hybrid that some people really like and some don't. My wife found it really cheap at a thrift store once and thought it looked interesting. Well, the sequel—For the King II (PS5)—hit PS+ and so now we have that as well. Presumably it improves upon its predecessor.
Games Being Played
-Sea of Stars (Switch)
I'm cleaning up some side quests before storming the last dungeon.
-Trine 4 (Switch)
In the final chapter.
-Earth Defense Force: World Brothers (Switch)
We are in the last few missions of the final difficulty and it can be really unfair but let me tell you, it feels soooo good when you clear one of those missions.
-Piczle Cross: Rune Factory (Switch)
I don't know if I actually touched this in July but it's always there, tempting me with more Picross puzzles.
-The Mound (PS5)
For the time being, at least, The Mound has become our replacement for Destiny. It's very different, of course, but that has been refreshing. And this game takes no prisoners, let me tell you. Looking forward to, well, doing better in the future.
Haha, that Picross game name is funny. I had no idea there was another "PixlCross" out there! Now that PB 3.0 is done, I can finally dust that off and get it released on Steam.
If you ever get it on Switch, I will definitely buy it!
Right now I'm playing Splatoon Raiders, Rhythm Heaven Groove, and whatever I get to review.
I have heard great things about both of those games! I'm curious if Raiders will click with you. I know shooters aren't your usual wheelhouse.
There are some shooters I like. I enjoyed the other Splatoon games. I also liked the Ratchet and Clank series. Does Mega Man Legends count as a shooter? I liked it anyway. Heck, I even liked Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. I'm actually working on a Splatoon Raiders blog right now. Expect it in about a week or so.
Those EDF games just keep on going, don't they. I'm about to revisit EDF 2017 and see if I get hooked again.
EDF 2025 is the only other one I've played but I LOVE that World Brothers gives you a squad of four to freely switch between. I love being able to quickly switch between a character with great mobility, heavy firepower, homing weapons, or strong melee. It's hard to imagine going back to being stuck with a single character after this.
Yeah, that's a cool feature. I have the first World Bros game and played some of it last year. I'd like to play more of it and World Bros 2.
