After a very long hiatus, PixlTalk is back for Episode 83. For now, you'll only be able to watch this episode on YouTube, but soon the RSS feed will be updated appropriately in order to bring all of the PixlBit podcasts together into a single feed. In this episode, Nick discusses the state of the industry after both Sony's digital-only announcement and Microsoft's huge layoffs, the games he's been playing recently, and a little bit of site information and where things are going next. Tune in to hear more in this reboot of PixlBit's original podcast!
Let's be honest, even if tech was as cheap as it used to be, Nintendo wouldn't make a console/handheld that is up to snuff with whatever their competitors make.
400 kaizo rom hacks played is wild lol, but yeah I can see how some gamers would lose themselves in that scene because it calls to their gaming needs more than what is commercially available.
Love the short form publication idea.
Yeah, that's true. Nintendo is quite happy to be a little behind the curve and benefit from the tech being abundant and cheap. But I'd say I'm very happy with the Switch 2, in terms of performance/visuals. It's kind of in the perfect spot for the moment, imo.
And yeah, I've been playing a lot of kaizo over the last few years. Given how much variety there is out there, it's easy to keep playing hacks as they release.
Very cool - I am looking forward to finishing up the short form publication stuff soon.
Yeah sorry if I didn't label my podcast blog correctly. You might have to show me how to do that since I can be a big dummy sometimes.
But if you haven't yet, I hope you get a chance to listen to my newest podcast, as it's a pretty special one.
This coming week around Thursday-ish, I plan to post my "Cary's Best Games of 2026 SO FAR" blog, so if you have any suggestions on how I should label that or whatever, please let me know.
Hey I reviewed that Pipistrello and the Cursed Yo-Yo game last year!
Yeah it's not a fun time to be a gamer right now. The Sony thing doesn't affect me much now, since I don't even have a PS5. But I know eventually even Nintendo will go all digital. So I don't know what I'll do yet. Maybe I'll just stick to Switch 2, maybe I'll just go digital and be grumpy about it, maybe I'll find a new hobby, or maybe I'll just play nothing but SNES games. All are possible. Only thing I know right now is I'm going to go where the fun is.
No worries! I am going to be putting together a tutorial series to show how to use everything in the site - hopefully after that, it's really clear and easy for everyone.
I will definitely be checking out your podcast, 30 years is a huge achievement - congrats!
I don't see PixlTalk on Spotify where I listen to podcasts right now, but I just subscribed to the youtube channel (not sure why I hadn't before). I'll check it out during a game session when I usually watch youtube.
Here's a link to the Spotify listing - hope you enjoy it!
Got it! Thanks!
