This Week's Silliest Moments

I often make my own fun when I'm at MK's like I've half lost my mind. It's an enhancement to gaming I enjoy (singing in my head right now is Iron Maiden's, "Can I Play with Madness"),

On Xbox 360

Borderlands - This is the very first version. The major difference I noticed from the remaster is that you have to pick up everything yourself. Items don't just whisk into your inventory. I played as Mordecai and focused on being a sniper, but I found myself using repeater pistols and SMGs a lot because enemies tend to bull rush you a lot.

The silliest moments were when I had fire element weapons and couldn't resist singing "Fire" by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, "I am the god of hellfire, and I bring you/ Fire, I'll take you to burn." over and over again whenever an enemy burst into flames.

Crackdown - It's weird that this original version of the game doesn't have a way to start from scratch, i.e.: create a new campaign. You have to go erase the old save in settings to do that. I'm pretty sure the digital (and free) version on Xbox Series has that option. I started over and cleared the Los Muertos island of bosses (I should note that MK got into this as well on his Series X and beat the game). I began the Volk island but then stopped because, other than more difficult bosses, it seemed like just more of the same. Not to say that isn't fun in this context. Crackdown is amazingly fun. I almost couldn't pull myself away, but I have a lot of games to assess in my collection right now.

The silliest thing I did was grab a massive missile truck carrier and jam it into the Agency garage (innuendos ensued). For some reason, they refused to take it. I seem to remember being able to record the capture of any vehicle in the Agency. Maybe this one isn't included?

Call of Duty 3 - I went the full distance with this Treyarch COD game. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It tells the story of the battles just after D-Day, ending with the recapture of Paris. You get to use all the weapons and drive jeeps and tanks. No motorcycles (I wanted to ride one with a sidecar I found in a village) and no airplanes in this one.

The silliest thing I did was get inside an outhouse that was half destroyed and shoot from there. My comment to MK was, "I do my best shooting from the shitter."

On DS

Clubhouse Games - So I was excited at first because you can play modes where you can progress through multiple card games for rewards (mission mode and stamp mode). However, I'm really not that into many of the card games here like Old Maid (cringe) and others that I've never heard of. I played against three other AI players most of the time. I imagine you could play against real players via link cable or maybe wifi? I forget if the DSi has a wireless connection for multiplayer. That would be fun. So the game has the features I want but not the actual card games I enjoy.

I guess the silliest thing I did was not stick with it for longer and learn the card games I was unfamiliar with, but I had a intuitive sense that it wasn't for me.

Playing Now

Professor Layton and the Last Specter on DS and Sonic's All-Stars Racing Transformed on Xbox 360.

Yay for silly moments! 😁 Can’t say that I’ve had any silly moments recently. I’ve been all in playing Sea of Stars. That game has a decent sense of humor but it hasn’t been ME being silly

I'm deep into Sonic's All-Stars Racing Transformed and haven't had a silly thought. I'm too absorbed by it, however, I did redo my avatar so I could race with it. I put a BattleBlock Theater head on it with a top hat. So that's pretty silly. I'm pretty serious about doing everything in the game though 'cause I like it so much.

I've never played the Clubhouse Games on the DS, but I did get the Switch one. It's pretty neat.

Oh you know my brain is ALWAYS in 'Silly Mode' when I'm playing video games. Keep in mind who I recently married. :)

I like the Solitaire games with progression elements as far as card games go. Unless they're fantasy card games. I like those. But, I'll have to watch a trailer of the Switch version just to see what it is.
