The NES version of TMNT Arcade had a coupon for a free Personal Pan pizza on the back cover of the instruction manual. The expiration date was December 31, 1991, and given that the game was released in 1989, that's a long time to honor a coupon. I wonder if PepsiCo was kicking themselves the way Krusty the Clown was when his Krusty the Clown Olympics promo turned super expensive by the Eastern bloc boycott of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics (which was a parody of the financial beating McDonald's took in real life in 1984 for running their Olympic promo.)
Oh yeah, I remember that now! I do miss getting my Book It pizzas.
It still exists. But yeah, I remember getting my personal pan pizzas from Book-It.
Unfortunately, I didn't get as many as a lot of my classmates did, for the reason that I was reading adult books by that time which were more than 200 pages in length and had a lot more text per page than books for ten year olds. My mom told me my teacher had told her during a parent-teacher conference that I wasn't reading as many books as they thought I should be reading. My mom brought in the books I was reading at the time, which happened to be Douglas Adams's Hitchhiker "trilogy" (which had four books by then). My reading was never questioned again, LOL. My teacher actually started crediting me one book for every 150 pages I read.
Now I want a fucking personal pan pizza.
And yeah, now that you mention it, I think I had to slum it to get my pizzas. I started first grade reading at a fifth grade level so I was always way ahead of most of my class, and I also loved reading on my own.
Pretty sure they (Pizza Hutt) continued the practice into the mid-90s, cause I definitely remember this as a kid. I'm pretty sure they even still used Book It as their promo name.
Maybe the coupons expired earlier though.
Book It stayed around for a while. I think I was still able to redeem the books I read in middle school, which would have been around 93.

Interesting, because that's my complaint about the English singer. I was going to grab the English version, listened to it, and felt like she was sleepwalking through the song.
In all honesty, I think it's just the song for me.
Speaking of which, I do like the MS-DOS version of Ken's stage (my nostalgia may not allow me to like it MORE than the SNES version, but I definitely see why you do) but I am not finding anything that sounds like that track when I look up MS-DOS Street Fighter videos on YouTube.
The versions of songs I'm hearing are way more synthy and muddy than what you included in the podcast.

Ah! Yes the eye thing. They have gotten a bit better. Like light sensitivity used to be the killer for me when it came to reading and that has gotten a lot better since my first surgery. Occasionally my other eye still spazzes out though and it makes it hard to focus. The whole thing has been the longest process ever. I just got more stitches out of my eye the other day and that's supposedly the last step and now Im going to see the real inprovement... Enjoy that eyeball stitches image. (Its actually not as awful as it sounds)
Awesome! And it's ok re: the visual. I've seen Clockwork Orange and that random Salvador Dali art film. Nothing eye-related can phase me now.
