The digital only 360 titles I played this week.

Double Dragon Neon - Wayforward's take on Double Dragon, sticking closely too the old gameplay. I always have trouble lining up with enemies in these 2D brawlers. I love them and they frustrate me.

Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death - I finally finished it! It copies God of War's gameplay and style quite closely. The fighting is pretty good. Not as smooth and fast as GoW but close enough. In between fighting there are challenge sections that test your platform, dodging, gliding and shooting skills. These are the most annoying to me, but I powered through them this time around.

Overall a pretty solid game. Strange that it was download only because it takes about as long as most disc based games and has the graphics to compete with those. James Hong voices the villain. A very recognizable voice because he's been in so many films and games. Steve Blum did the Mask which I liked a lot and trying to imitate. He's been in a lot of stuff too including anime. Arif S. Kinchen did a memorable Marlow. He's been in a lot of TV shows recently.

Feeding Frenzy 1-2 - These look great on a big screen, like giant aquariums you can interact with. They are based on Intellivision's Shark! Shark! where you eat fish to grow into a apex predator. I've done all the story missions already, so I played Time Trials on both until I got game-over screens. I made some progress there.

Exit 2 - Like the first game but with more people to rescue and use as your helpers in escaping the burning buildings. I still have trouble doing the run-jump, especially on small platforms. It drives me kind of crazy trying to get the timing right. I like it though.

Choplifter HD - A remake of the old 80s PC game I never played until now. It's good but gets difficult. I don't like time limits on levels either. It's cool you can turn your copter to shoot at enemies in the foreground because it's mostly a 2D game.

Marathon Durandal - I surprised myself by getting quite far into it this time around. Last time, I got lost in the low detail environments, but it didn't bother me this time. I did make the mistake of saving myself with almost no health and kept respawning in mortal danger over and over again. I went to an older save but then felt a little burned out on it and stopped. I'll finish this someday.

KrissX - I revisited this crossword puzzle game that I quite like. I played all the special boards again. I found the hints a bit obstruse but not terribly hard.

Hydrophobia - What do you think this game features? Yes, water, and lots of it. You are on a cruise liner (or battleship?) where a terrorist group is breaking everything and trying to sink it. You have to try and stop them while escaping constant flooding. It looks really good.

I just never seem to finish it because of something tricky, like automated turrets or just getting lost in flooding corridors. It's in third-person view. You hack stuff, shoot, climb and swim a lot. There's a Hydrophobia Prophesy expanded edition I just noticed for PS3/Steam. I'll have to look that up when I start up my PS3.

Arkadian Warriors - This was one of the first co-op action RPGs I played on Xbox 360 back in 2008.

18 years later I have finally 100% completed the game and all the achievements. I had three left I had originally thought were too hard, but I went for them this time and got them by playing with my old character, a level 14 archer. I played through the whole game again to get the 100 kills with exploding barrels, and then repeated the last three levels twice to get the 500K gold and max level 20 achievements. Non really that hard, actually. Fun game too. It's sort of a more casual style Diablo. Also like Skylanders in a way, now I think of it. You have spells, multiple weapons and a super power to change into a monster.

Purchases

Shattered Union (OG Xbox, $10) - A turn-based strategy game I always wanted to try out. I hope it's not complicated like Nobunaga's Ambition or Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I struck those off my shopping list because I'm just not up to that kind of thing in a TBS.

Super Swing Golf (Wii, $6) - My first pure golf game for the Wii.

A lot of hardcore Double Dragon fans hated Neon because it took the series in a goofy, humorous direction. But I liked it like that!

I played the original Choplifter a lot on my old Apple ][+ back in the day. I remember reviewing the Choplifter remake. Boy was that hard!
