Just going back to work today after a week long vacation. Been one hell of a week all around, but I did manage to get in some relaxing and game time. My brother was having some health issues and was not able to do much. So I spent a good deal of time helping my Mom and sister-in-law get their house ready for sale. Mostly packing and moving stuff down from the attic and up from the basement. In between we'd sit and watch updates on the Boston bombing and the Texas fertilizer plant explosion. And then we heard about the earthquake in China. And that there were some earthquakes here in Oklahoma while we were away. But it all ended okay with my brother coming home from the hospital, feeling much better. Things are back on track now and I'm back at work.
Two good things did happen last week. First of all,Rush and Heart were both inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame. It's long overdue for both bands. Then,I made a little game buying run to a couple of good used game stores in Indianapolis. Found several games that I've learned about from some of you lately. Such as Nier,River King, and Binary Domain. Also got Bayonetta and Dragon Age:Origins for the 360. Picked up GTA:Chinatown Wars and Hot Shots Golf:Open Tee for the PSP. Got Red Steel and Trauma Center:Second Opinion for the Wii. For the PS1 I bought Rainbow Six and Tony Hawk Pro Skater. Another PS3 game I got was the Jak And Daxter HD collection. And finally,I got Syberia for the XBOX.
It's just good to be back. I'm happy that the people in Boston were able to get their lives back to normal. I felt really bad for the folks in that Texas town, hope they will be able to do some recovering this week from the tragic explosion. And I'm definitely blessed to have my family preparing to return to Oklahoma. Might actually be able to spend some more time with them this holiday season. Hope that your week is getting off to a great start as well.
What I'm listening to today.........
probably my favourtie rush song.
chinatown wars is the only gta game that I actually finished. There seems to be way to much to do in the console gta games that I have difficulty finishing the campaign.
Impressive haul otherwise.
I know what you mean. I had GTA:Chinatown Wars on my iPad,but the controls were tough to get used to. I'm hoping that the PSP controls will make it smoother. I never finished GTA 4 and I still try to.
Impressive haul indeed. Binary Domain and Bayonetta are two games I'll pick up somewhere along the line
My son had Bayonetta and really liked it. Said it was crazy as hell, but I kinda like that stuff!
Chinatown Wars is my favorite GTA besides Vice City. I loved how it was a retro throwback to the old GTAs. I made so much money selling drugs lol.
I'm working on beating the Jak and Daxter Collection. Jak 2 is pretty tough at some parts. Nice haul and I'm glad your brother is ok!
Never realized how much I missed Jak and Daxter. Their world was so colorful and fun to run around in. Looks superb in HD,too.
I've wanted to get Bayonetta for a long time and I've noticed that it's pretty cheap now, so maybe I'll get it sometime soon. And I've heard a lot of good things about Binary Domain recently from folks here on PixlBit, so I've been eyeing that recently too
My grandfather was an architect and lives in Cleveland, so one time when I was a kid we went to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame because he wanted to get a closer look at the architecture. The building is shaped like a giant phonograph. It's pretty crazy.
I remember when they were deciding on a location for the R/R HOF. They came to Tulsa and looked at this huge building that is golden and was once a hospital called the City Of Faith. Oral Roberts built it. It would have been kinda cool, but I'm glad they went with Cleveland.
The guy I do BvsC with (B) is a HUGE Rush fan. He actually just got tickets to go see them for his birthday. It will mark his 16th time seeing them. lol
They have a tremendously loyal fan base. Mostly dudes who will drive long distances to see them. I've loved them since I was in grade school,so I can understand how they feel. Glad they finally got the recognition they deserve.
Heart wasn't already in the Rock hall of fame, seriously? That's nuts! Glad your brother is okay and out of the hospital, mate. I bet you were pretty worried about him!
Thanks for that. Yeah,it was touch and go. Could have been far worse. Doctors said he was really lucky, but I think God may have helped out there. Just too many coincidences.
Good to hear about your brother! You picked up a really nice selection of games, including a couple of my favorites, and I'm kicking myself for never buying Syberia. I would always see it but always passed and wouldn't you know it, now I want to give it a try.
Shocking to hear that Heart and Rush weren't already in the HoF but it's about damn time.
Now maybe Eddie Trunk can calm down a bit. He's been pissed about this issue for so long!
I was so happy to see that Rush was finally being inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. Now if we could only get Genesis in there. Dragon Age and Bayonetta are both awesome games. Draon Age is one of those great BioWare RPGs and Bayonetta is just over the top, tongue in cheek, comepletely unsubtle action with crazy settings, weapons combos and just about everything else you can think of. I hope you have fun with them both.
Can't believe I have never tried the Dragon Age games. I even own the movie, the one with Felicia Day. So this should be cool. I agree with you on Genesis. Another band that shaped my taste in rock growing up. Saw them live once and it was amazing.
Rush and Heart are both great, and last week did suck if you watched the news, but glad you got some relaxing time in. I just got back from a mini-vacation to my alma mater myself.
Nice buys. I found a couple of Gameboy color games I wanted ( Harry Potter), If they are still there when I go back I was meant to get them. I spent this month budget on Pandoras Tower, Deus Ex and Brink. So no new games until next month.
. Anyway, Nice! with the Heart and Rush.
Rush and Heart: I've seen them both in concert and I have to say Rush was the loudest ear splitting concert I've ever been too. It was actually painfull...
