I've been busy lately. I got a new job last week and the hours will take some getting use to. I only work 4 days one week and 3 days the next, but they are 12 hour shifts that alternate days & nights. My life will be a bit more busy for a while until my wife has our 5th child in a couple months. So yeah, my gaming playing is a bit messed up now.
Games I'm Playing:
Ni No Kuni (PS3)
I'm almost 20hrs in and I'm not sick of it yet. It's a damn good game and looking forward to what happens next. I do hope somewhere along the line, I run into a spell that will warp me around the world. There's a bit of back tracking, especially if you do the side missions, so I hope a warp spell or something comes along to speed up the traveling.
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (DS)
I'm still making progress in DoS. I took a couple days off from playing it, but I'm back on it now. The bosses are pretty easy if I sort of prepare for the battles. I should have no trouble beating this game.
Mass Effect (PS3)
I'll be honest right up front. This is the worse version of Mass Effect I have ever played. The PS3 version does look a little better than the 360 version, but it has more problems. It has some of the same glitches as the 360 version and then some. The worst problem with the game is that is stops during the saving & loading. It takes forever. At least it fills like it takes forever. I had to turn off the auto save because it was pissing me off. The 360 has the same problem, but it's no where near as long. A few times it too so long that I thought the game had crashed. To play the game you have to install it to the PS3. Why does it take so long to save & load?
Bioshock (360)
It's a bit on hold now, but I haven't forgotten it. As soon as I manage my time better, I'll get back on it.
Games I Bought:
Mass Effect Trilogy (PS3) - Though I'm not that happy with how ME1 is turning out, it's still ME. I love ME.
SMT: Devil Summoner - Soul Hackers (3DS) - Now I need a 3DS to play it on.
Pandora's Tower (Wii) - I hope I can get to this game this year, but I have my doubts.
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PSP) - I got it off PSN a couple days ago. I think I can play it on the PSP, PS3, and Vita.
Cross Edge (PS3) - It didn't take long for me to find another copy.
Doom 3: BFG Edition (360) - I never really played Doom before, so here's my chance to play all the games and it cost me less than $20.
Games I Preordered and Working on Getting:
Time and Eternity (PS3) - A friend shared a vid with me about this game and I was sold. It looks like an interesting game.
Project X Zone (3DS)
Valkyria Chronicles (PS3) - Hopefully I can get this soon.
Valkyria Chronicles II (PSP) - Same with this game.
That's all I got. Hopefully I can do another blog in a couple weeks. And hopefully by then a couple games will be finished.
I own most of these games. Huge time sinks is all I'm saying. Enjoyable time sinks, but time sinks nonetheless.
Time suckers they are.
Never played Doom?!?!?!?!?! That's like my equivalent of your Mass Effect lol.
Doom 3 is okay. It's a bit outdated, and there are better shooters out there... but the original Doom is my favorite fps ever! You certainly get a LOT of content with BFG Edition.
I played Doom very little during the 90s. I barely remember playing it. I actually played Hexen more.
5th child???? There's four kids in my family (I'm #3) and I thought that was a lot!!
Glad u dig Ni No Kuni. I'm back in Motorville now taking care of some stuff, but I'm not as far in as u.
I have to head back to Motorville too. I'd be further in the game, but life outside games keeps popping up.
So far, with a little level grinding that game isn't that hard.
I think I'm just gonna go ahead and get Dawn of Sorrow. Congrats on the job and kid!
DoS is a nice game. I played last night and now I'm currently stuck again. There are a couple puzzles I haven't figured out yet, so I guess I can work on those.
I probably won't play ME PS3 until I can get all the DLC for a fair enough price. Glad to see you're enjoying DoS too, that's my favorite in the series.
I'm afraid that may take a while. Even at half the price, some of the dlc isn't really worth it, unless you love the series. I really wish EA would release a package with all the dlc included. It happened with Dragon Age: Origins and it still hadn't happened with Dragon Age 2. Mass Effect 2 (PS3) has included dlc, but it's still missing "Arrival". ME (PC) gets "Bring Down the Sky" for free. If the dlc drops down to a nice cheap price, I'll buy some of it again.
Time and Eternity does look like a really interesting game and once I saw the video I was sold as well.
I'm getting excited to see more. From what I know about the game, it should be pretty good.
Still planning on getting Valkyria Chronicles 2 for the psp so we think alike. lol. Bioshock is fun but its' allure is part of the problem. Aka, I blew through it really quick!
I think I read somewhere that it isn't a long game. If I just sat down and played it, I'm sure I'd be through it already.
Got Bioshock myself, may play Infinite first when it's a little cheaper (PC version probably). I'm in the process of getting all the Persona games, already have 4 and only started the 1st. But i haven't the time (that and i've been playing Borderlands 2 a little too much).
Get that XL Fire Emblem 3DS, i mean you may as well
I've pre-ordered Persona 4: Arena, one shop has something "Special" with it buy saturday I'll probably blog about it.
I always forget about Fire Emblem. I still see physical copies when I go to GameStop. I may pick it up before I get a 3DS.
You get something special when you preordered P4: Arena. Damn shame we didn't get anything. It's been a while since I played the game. I would go back to it, but there is so much I have to play through.
I still hadn't played Borderlands 1. I'm waiting for more of a price drop. I'm sure I'll get it this year.
I just recently bought Doom 3:BFG Edition as well. I played Doom 3 on the original Xbox and I enjoyed it. All of them are pretty good, the multiplayer for Doom 3 is kinda hard to control I think.
I bought the digital version of Mass Effect from PSN too. I remember it having very long load times on the Xbox 360, so it doesn't really surprise me that it does on there too. Mass Effect 1 is the only Mass Effect game that I have not finished....
I played through the 360 version of Mass Effect over 25 times. I also own the PC version. The last time I played that game was last month on the 360. PS3 version is worse. It's an installed game. What takes it so long to save & load?
I hope to start Doom soon. My plan is to play the games in order.
You're gonna have a ME collection like I have a MGS collection. But when you love a game as much as we love our ME and MGS, you can never own enough copies!
If Mass Effect 1 & 2 released on the Wii U, I'd buy them too.
I'm really hoping it's true abou that ultimate collection of MGS releasing. That would be great. I'd buy it.
I'll make sure to avoid ME on PS3. The last thing I want to do is install that game. Also note that Valkyria Chronicles has an optional install for it's game loads too, key word there is "optional".
Pandora's Tower: all I can say is get it, buy it, love it. You won't be disappointed.
I picked up Valkyria Chronicles last night along with Fire Emblem (3DS). Hopefully I can play these games soon.
Mass Effect could of been great on the PS3. If you hadn't played it before on the 360 or PC, then you may not notice some of the problems. My advice is, if you have the option of getting the trilogy on different systems, don't go with the PS3 version if you don't have to.
The Doom (BFG) game is one I really want to get. I like the more modern versions of Doom. The originals were cool, but got a bit monotonous. I should get more Castlevania games, too. The ones they put out on PS2 were pretty awesome. Time And Eternity is one I haven't heard of before. Looks like a game I should investigate. My poor neglected PS3 needs it!
I only started playing on my PS3 recently. I've mainly been playing Mass Effect, lately.
