Ok, let's get a little personal in here.
Would you or wouldn't you date someone who is also a gamer?
Why or why not?
I married a gamer. So yes. lol.
I wife wasn't a "gamer" when we meet, but she had played games before in her younger years. After being married to me, she's more of a gamer and has some serious games under her belt. I'm glad she converted, because I don't think I'd waste my time with a non-gamer. They don't understand our passion for gaming. I have a few buddies that have non-gamer girlfriends and boyfriends and it's not looking like their relationships are going to last.
I tried dating non-gamers and it didn't work out.
Met a girl who casually gamed, turned her to bigger title games, and I married her!
So yeah, I don't think I could ever date another person who wasn't a gamer.
I've been single (and lonely) for years now, if i had a choice a gamer would be the second next to a Gymnast (because we all need dreams
).
Why, we all need to share a hobby or taste with your other half if the relationship wants to work. Games is one of the big ones for me.
My wife grew up in a household that had every Nintendo system. She may not have spent all that much time with them, but she is a fan of Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart. I am just fine with her level of gamer-ness.
Now that I think about it, everybody else I dated did not have any background in videogames.
never dated a gamer, but it's my dream to.
Yeah I would prefer a woman who sees my PS3 as something fun that we can enjoy together instead of glaring at it jealously as competition for her attention. So far unfortunetly I have only had expirience with later.
All I know is that I'd never get rid of my games due to some woman.
Funny thing you mentioned this today because yesterday I was at Gamestop and almost fell in love. I was there to buy Bioshock Infinite and God of War Ascension new and expected the salesperson to push the used versions on me, but she didn't. Not only that, we got into a genuine conversation about games and comics, not some salesperson BS attempt at luring me into a preorder. She was pretty and honest and a gamer. Would I date her? Oh heck yes! We could play the upcoming Lego Marvel Heroes together. <sigh> If only...
Ask her out man!
I need a real career and my own place first. My current girlfriend I'm living with is a nongamer. I basically live in coffee shops now trying to figure out what career I should follow, writing blogs, and reading a lot.
I guess it could still happen. I'm going to go to that Gamestop exclusively on her shift from now on.
Some direction career wise would be a big confidence builder for me. That's what I'm obsessed with right now. She pretty though...
I hear you on the career. I've recently come to the conclusion that I'm not meant to be caged like a bird and stuck at a desk all day, so I've been looking around as well. Good luck to you and your endevours though!
Thanks. Love will find a way. To quote a song by Yes.
Haha, women don't care what your social status is. If she's interested in some kind of relationship, she'll say yes! All you have to do is ask her if she wants to hang out some time.
Yea, I kinda get that. It's really just me that's insecure about it.
I've dated a casual gamer and it was cool, but to answer the question I'd be ok with dating a gamer. Heck my last girlfriend loved Super Mario but really didn't play anything else but tried other games because I liked them. I think sharing a hobby with someone you care about is always a plus in a relationship
I married a gamer, but before that it was tricky dating non-gaming women. They saw it as a waste of time. I suppose I was expected to do things like sit around watching hours on end of football. That is such a better use of my time. Then I could talk stats and stuff, memorize playbooks and team rosters. What have I done with my life?!!!
If I was looking for someone, whether they were a gamer or not wouldn't really be a factor for me, as long as she wasn't the type to look down on me for being one. Sometimes I think it would be nice to have a partner to game with.
But honestly, I'm glad my long-time (9+ years) girlfriend who I share a house with is not a gamer. While I like to play multi-player games every now and then, I am by and large a single-player gamer. There are so many single-player games I want to play, I would get kind of annoyed if I had to play a game with her all the time. Or worse yet, if both of us were wanting to play the same single-player game and I couldn't play it because she was got to it first.
For me, I'm in the perfect relationship for my video gaming habits. I'm with someone who is not a gamer but doesn't mind that I'm one and she also likes doing things by herself every now and then so I have plenty of time to play.
Jason games, just not nearly as much as I do. I have hooked him on Pinball Arcade, though. I don't see us playing much in the way of co-op, though, because our taste in games is pretty different. He's more into strategy and aerial combat games, I'm more action/adventure and RPG.
I have to be with a gamer, Ive dated non gamers and it jsut doesnt work. I play games has a hobby to much for a non gamer to sync in my life well. I also have my other hobbies like reading and writing that for some odd reason a gamer seems to be more connecting then a non gamer with. Im currently dating a gamer and he is amazing. He treats me right and never trys to bring me down unlike my previous relationship which was horriable which by the way, he was a non gamer type. So its either your a gamer or its a no go for me.
My first wife played video games. I find that it's easier to have something in common.
With a lot of non-gaming women I don't even think it's a problem for them. They just have friends who tell them that they are dating a shiftless loser! "He should be spending all his time with you,not playing those stupid games. What an idiot." I'm sure they catch all kinds of hell. It's all about appearances and what is considered "normal" behavior for men.
That's the impression a lot of people have about gaming. That it takes up all your time and you ignore those around you. For me, I will drop a game like that if there's someone to talk to. In the end, I'll take meat space over virtual space every time.
It's neither a deal maker, nor a deal breaker. We do need to have mostly similar hobbies to enjoy time together, but I have other hobbies and interests.
I could go either way, but a gamer would be a plus. My ex-girlfriend didn't really play games, but she didn't mind that I was a Nintendo nerd.
I think it would be fun to date a gamer lady. It's difficult for me to go out much, though, because of my disability.
When I was first getting to know the girl I eventually married, we were just friends hanging out. Then one day she randomly started telling me how much she loved Halo and everything just clicked into place for me. I knew I had to date her lol. And the rest, as they say, is history
I am engaged to a gamer....actually I only dated gamers. For some reason they flock to women who play games, weird lol.
My girlfriend is not a gamer. (dykeadelic, yeah!) I've dated both gamers and non-gamers in the past. The non-gamers had no respect for video games and I want to slap all of them. My current love doesn't play (aside from the occasional "Flower" or "Sims" or "Journey" type stuff) but she has a lot of respect for the time I put into it. That's all I can really ask for! :3
I married a gamer so yes.
Even if she don't game as often like she use to I like a woman who can kick my but in gaming.
