My favorite female character is Kreia, from KOTOR 2.  She's a villain and I always thought she was the most complex villain I've ever seen in any medium.  I might write some fan fiction on her, she's really interesting.

I am not too familiar with her or the KOTOR franchise, but if she is interesting enough to have fiction written of her, then good for her.

Jade from Beyond Good & Evil immediately springs to mind. I'll have to think about this one some more, though.

That reminds me, I should see what used copies go for on Gamecube now.

Oooh, 13.99. Cheap. Hmmm....

My first thought too.

Faith from Mirror's Edge, and Samus Aran from the Metroid series. I can't seem to remember any other favs, that's how awesome both of those are to me.

I can dig Samus. Faith looks cool, don't know much of her personality in the game, though.

Jade, Bayonetta, Paine, Alyx, Ashley Williams, Tali, Morrigan, Merril, my Saints Row The Third character.

The list goes on and on. I love strong female characters.

Of those, I only recognize Bayonetta, Tali (Soul Calibur, right?), and your Saints Row The Third character. I could spot your Saints Row The Third character a mile away. I'm doing it right now in fact, from this laptop. You should wear more pants, you nerd, you.

My bad, lol. Jade from Beyond Good & Evil, Paine from FF X-2, Ashley and Tali from Mass Effect, Morrigan and Merril from Dragon Age. And my Saints character looks like Lisbeth Salander from The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

I should have known Jade even though I never played BG&E. Otherwise, I only really know Lisbeth Sander. It sounds like these are mostly RPG characters though, so that is likely why I do not recognize them.

The only one that really sticks out to me is Lara Croft. I played the heck out out of the Tomb Raider games on the Playstation, didn't really touch the PS2 games, but I enjoyed how dark she got in Tomb Raider Legend. I'm still waiting for the current TR game to drop so I can give that version a try.

I liked the first Tomb Raider movie. Was the character really different from the game, if you've seen it?

I always liked Tifa from FF7, she was pretty bad ass. Kasumi and Ayane in DOA are awesome. Nina Williams from Tekken is another good one (and bonus points for being Irish). I have Bayonetta currently in my backlog so she may jump into my favourite list at some stage.

I generally enjoy female leads in video games as it's a nice change of pace. Getting the same ol' muscle bound dbag every game gets old.

Yeah, Nina does kick ass. Literally.

Talim- soul caliber, Alyx Vance- half life 2, marle- chrono trigger, samus aran- metroid, Elizabeth- bioshock infinite, kairi- kingdom hearts...  That is all that I can think of off the top of my head.

Samus is cool. I don't know who my favorite SC character is as far as the females.

Aqua, from Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Now THAT game got a female protagonist right. While all hell was breaking loose in the games story, she was the only normal one lol.

Never played it, but it's cool when they keep their cool.  I like crazy women too, though.

I created a female character in Fable III that I ended up writing some fan fic about. She was a total rebel, then went into politics to save the children in the factory, and then became queen only to give it up so she could go on another adventure across the sea. She was a restless wanderer with a sword. Kinda like Red Sonja now I think of it.

Also, Sakura in Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. Whenever she won she would scream her head off. It's the primal scream of a woman who's just kicked your ass! I loved it.

I still haven't seen the original Conan or Red Sonja movies. Wonder if they're on Netflix.

The sequel Conan: The Destroyer is on Instant watch. The other ones you have to get the disc.

Jen from Primal.

Never played that one, but I have played Primal Fury. Wonder if any of those monsters were female? Jen has a cool design.

You need to play it. Knowing that you have a great sense of humour there are some parts that you will certainly appreciate.

It's weird, I decided to watch Anita Sarkeesian's newest video, or the first part of it on my phone this morning, and Primal was in there. She was talking about role reversal in the form of "male damsels in distress," and I guess that game fit into her category.

The Boss     from Metal Gear Solid 3

Forgot that was a female character. Need to play that one.

I have a lot of favorites.  Cammy, Chun-Li, Tron Bonne, Ms. Pac-Man, Valkyrie, Taki, Samus, Capt. Syrup, Terra, Tifa, Ulala, etc.

Capt. Syrup? That's a good name. She looks like an Arabian pirate when I look on Google Images.

Yes, Syrup is the leader of a band of pirates and the antogonist in a few of the Wario games.

Hinata Hyuga (Naruto games), Naoto Shirogane (Persona 4), Mitsuru Kirijo (Persona 3), Liara T'Soni (Mass Effect), Aria T'Loak (Mass Effect), Silmeria/Alicia (Valkyrie Profile 2)

I see you have a thing for foreign sounding names. lol

So do you like the Russian girl from the beginning of MGS2?

Olga wasn't half bad.  She was strong, she could shoot, and her hairy armpits were kind of nice.

Yeah, my grandpa had a woman from Bulgaria taking care of him towards his life's end. She had hairy armpits, but still attractive. lol

I thought she was cool, I'm actually more of a fan of Sniper Wolf but Olga was a pretty cool character too. I don't know why but I just like Russian girls for some reason, google Sasha Bonilova and then get back to me ;)

Sniper Wolf was pretty awesome.

I Googled and I see that she was a Playboy playmate.

I am pretty sure one of my favorite characters from Orange is the New Black (I've only watched two episodes) is Russian.

Oh, and you helped Pokemon get a mention in the blog I wrote after this one by including four characters from it here. lol

Man, tough question. Marle & Ayla from Chrono Trigger, Tifa FFVII, Quistis FFVIII, Garnet FFIX, Samus, Jade BG&E, Ling Xiaoyu Tekken, Tali & Liara Mass Effect,... uhm I know there are more but I'm tired and can't think. I'll add them when they come to me.

Well, they seem to be popular choices, even if I only ever played Samus's games and really recognize Jade. Yeah, we can all tell I don't play RPGs and skipped a generation based on this blog alone. lol

I had wrote a blog about this very subject way back when on 1up. I think I ranked Chun Li at number one. I also really like Orchid from Killer Instinct and Samus of course. Who doesn't love Samus?

I know all three of your picks and love them! Thank you for saying characters I actually know and have played the games of! lol

1. Tifa

2. Samus

3. Kitana

4. Chun-Li

5. Luna (Lunar: Silver Star Story).

Almost forgot about Katana. Samus and Chun-Li are favorites of mine as well. Never played FFVII, but the Google Image results for Tifa look along the lines of a woman I'd be very attracted to if she were a real person. Fair skin, brown eyes, brunette hair. Good choices.

Juri from street fighter, for no other reason than she has a great move set and is a character I can play well with. As for something with a bit more meat ot it I'd have to say Zelda as Sheik, great design and very cool, they really should try out some linked combat with er..... Link in future installments in the Legend of Zelda. Smash Bro's is the closest we ve seen to her really kicking some ass.

I have been saying for a long time, I would love to have a game about what Shiek was doing on the sidelines in OoT.

Liara T'Soni, Sniper Wolf, The Boss, Chun Li, Cortana

Chun Li and Sniper Wolf would make a great espionage team.

Tali from Mass Effect. Her drunk conversation in ME3 is one of the best things I've ever heard.

Drunk conversation you say? There appear to be Youtube videos on that. I tried to watch one, but couldn't quite hear it cause the TV is on nearby. Is it this one? Looks like he talks to her in a bar about halfway in.

I would have to say Aya Brea from Parasite Eve. With Tifa of FFVII coming in a close second.

You people and your RPG characters, I have no idea about those two. lol

Well, except Tifa, cause someone else mentioned her and she looks nice.

Actually, Aya Brea is the same avatar one of my first 1up friends, lindalou had. Thanks for the memories, never realized that was Parasite Eve art!

Samus, Rosalina (Super Mario Galaxy), Litchi Faye-Ling and Rachel Alucard (BlazBlue), Yukari and Mitsuri from what i've played so far (Persona 3), Cortana (Halo) and Zelda (Twilight Princess version).

I was going to include Peach and my female character in Monster Hunter 3, but decided not to, the former because it's more the characterization of the fanon and Super Paper Mario and not the series as a whole and the latter because I haven't played much of that game, so I haven't made her a complete badass (yet).

Tifa Lockhart, Tifa Lockhart, Tifa Lockhart, Tifa Lockhart and Tifa Lockhart.

Also Lei Fang and Kokoro.
