I think the character Frank Booth in David Lynch's film Blue Velvet may have summed up the taste of Heineken best. Just watch the video and you'll see Frank's assessment of this lager within thirty seconds. Will I  concur with Frank's opinion. Watch here to find out why.

Ok so this is where me and you will disagree in beer, Heineken is a very skunky beer which i like maybe it contributes from my younger smoking days lol!! But one thing you pointed out and i believe is true is that almost all skunk beers come in green bottles and i would be curious to know why lol!! But anyway i do like skunk beer although i dont really drink Heineken now like i did as i got older i do still like skunk beer but i will stick with Grolshe then this one, great reveiw as always.

Man no worries this is by no means an exact sciennce I may merely have different taste in beers than you do --no need to apologize.. Everyone has biases when it comes to taste. I 'm biased towards hefes and stouts because I really like the flavor... American and certainly European Macro lagers like Heiniken not so much... Honestly there is no right or wrong in these endeavors-- it's simply a you say tomato I say tom-at toe thing.   =)

Sounds like you need to celebrate IPA day to wash that skunk out of your mouth.

Heineken from a green bottle. Guaranteed skunks. Ditto any beer from a green bottle if it hasn't been kept out of the light until you open it. Read: impossible. Ditto any beer in a clear bottle or glass that has been exposed to the sun for even the shortest period of time.

I have had the privilege of drinking Heineken on tap at a bar in Amsterdam. It is a totally different experience and one that is not unpleasant.

I never buy anything in green or clear bottles because it turns to skunks quick as lager turns to piss. LOL
