The return of long nights & too many games

Hello, everyone.

The first week of school just ended and I already feel beat down. The senior and junior varsity football teams held their scrimmage games last night, along with a bake sale and auction. People trashed the field for 4 hours and in addition to my regular cleaning duties, I didn't finish the field and football field house until nearly 3 a.m. I felt as though my sore legs would buckle under my weight just from the walk to my truck to my apartment door. Somehow I didn't even feel any energy to take a shower. I just collapsed on the couch and woke up at noon. Even after a rough-and-tumble summer work schedule, I hope that every week doesn't end like this.

Games wise, I've spent a lot of time on my Vita, buying and playing. In the past 2-3 weeks, I've bought Dragon's Crown, Hotline Miami, Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD, Rayman Origins, 10 by 8 and Velocity Ultra. Last night, during a break, I wrapped up Draw Slasher, an indie title where you use the touchscreen to navigate your ninja avatar and direct his sword attacks.

The gameplay brought back some memories of Fruit Ninja (and there is one level where you actually slice fruit and avoid the bombs) but I felt at times that my swipes didn't always register. There's  moments of platforming when you have to manuever around obstacles that can hurt you and I sometimes had trouble pulling it off. Overall, it's a nice title that I bought for $2 when it was first available but it is by no means essential. It's got moments of humor in the cut scenes, both of the mild profanity and corny variieties.

I've also been playing through Rayman Origins and I love this game. It's my first Rayman game but I love the level designs, music and sound effects. There's plenty of hidden items and if I feel so inclined before I finish, I'll try to hunt them down.

I haven't played enough of Dragon's Crown but I enjoyed what I've seen. The last time I played I had unlocked multiplayer and I can see how this could be great with friends. I'd like to play with some of you if that opportunity ever arised.

I also bought the Tomb Raider bundle on PSN last week and I've played through a little of the story mode. I like it so far. I'll have a better opinion the further I progress.

At some point I need to finish Ratchet & Clank Going Commando & Up Your Arsenal (from the HD collection), Bioshock Infinite, Ni No Kuni and Batman: Arkham City.

Shit. How am I going to finish this stuff off with all that's going on at work? Football will wrap up in November but then its straight into basketball, which is worse.

Right now, I'm going to relax and I hope the rest of you do the same. If your area is toasting under the sun, keep cool!

I luck out in that area. My co-workers and I don't have to move furniture from building to building. If it's from classroom to classroom in the same building, that's fine.

Wow.  You sound busier than me.  I have some of the same games to get back to or to get started on. Laughing  I did finish Ni no Kuni.

Rayman Origins is great. It's a lot like the very first game for PS1 actually. Just minus the old-school difficulty! I got all the collectables, but never got the platninum because those time trials were too much for me!

Origins can be pretty challenging. I've died enough that I get that notice of "this place is dangerous. Do you want to stay here?" and I keep trudging through. Those bonus stages where you have to chase the chest are both fun and infuriating.

Luckily for me, things are winding down in the next week or so at work. But the damn grass never did stop growing this summer! Usually by the end of August, the picnic field is turning a nice shade of brown and we only have to cut every couple of weeks instead of every week. And the boss has taken a lot of time off this month, which he deserves, but that leaves me in charge. I prefer being the sidekick, less responsibility, lol.

I need to get back and finish off Tomb Raider. I'm so close to the end, but I've hit a point with never ending waves of enemies and I got sick of dying over and over again and switched gears to AC2.

I'm all about "the least responsbility, the better." Since May, I've helped with other school buildings (8th grade, 3-5th grade) besides the athletic ones that I clean. Now that football season is underway, my boss is taking me off the bigger buildings so I won't have much on my plate.

That's alot to do in all one day. why no help with the fields? Are you expected to do it all yourself?

sounds like you have quite the backlog. I'd almost envy you with the game buys but with so little time how can one enjoy all that is there? babysteps for now, babysteps.

Starting tomorrow, I should only have the atheltic buildings to worry about, aside from some smaller stuff. I'm one of the few employees on a full-time schedule so my workload is enough for that (with opportunities for overtime). I've pretty much been cleaning up after games (at this district and a previous one) by myself for about 6 years.

Babysteps is all I can manage but that's been the case ever since I stopped being a teenager with no job or responsibilities. ;)

Thanks for the words of cooling down encouragement. They fixed my A/C so now I can cool down!

Sorry about the workload, though. That sounds rough.
