A friend told me about VGHS, so I checked it out, and surprisingly, it is very good. What is it, you ask? It's a web series about video games! The story follows a young man named BrianD. He loves to play games. One day he gets online and defeats a pro gamer named Law. This causes him to be accepted into Video Game High School! From there, he meets new friends, makes new enemies, and struggles as great pressure is put on him.
What's really neat about VGHS is that when they play a game (such as an FPS), the person in real life becomes the character in the game (as if they're really in the game). This is handled very well. And when someone is shot, they flash with a digitized faze and fall over (no blood).
I have to recommend this, it's very well done. Apparently these people had a kickstarter for this series, which explains why the special effects are so good. This is not cheap in the least! In fact, the acting is pretty good; at times, it is cheesy, but overall very solid. You will grow to love the main characters; they're full of personality and charm. Check it out! For your convenience, I've embedded the first episode below. You can watch the rest of the series on YouTube. However, they're not done. Currently, they're in Season 2. It's worth keeping up with, and it's free. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Hell yeah. The first season was awesome, and loved every bit of it. The second season is not as great as the first in my opinion, but still enjoyable to watch. Ki's probably my favorite character, and she's so gorgeous too.
I just started watching the second season. So far loving it. Everyone did a great job.
I'm so glad someone else has seen this series!!!!! When I first stumbled upon it, I thought it was some cheesy web series but it turned out be one of my favorite things to watch. Hell it has Harley from EPIC MEAL TIME....how can you go wrong. I love the characters and all the cheese involved. Great series I def recommend.
Yes, it's easy to have pre-judgments about it, thinking it is going to be some terrible cheesy fan-made thing. But it's actually high-quality! It's fun to watch! It stands above all the other VG stuff on YouTube that is cheesy garbage.
Hmmm...if I were a teacher at Video Game High School, I'd be the old one that rambles on about 80's arcade history. Wouldn't you love to take that class? :)
I'd much rather take that class than FPS 101 (no offense to FPSes, but there's so much more to learn about arcade history).
A friend at work turned me on to this guy freddiew on youtube years ago and I've been following him ever since. Now he's doing Video Game High School. It's so cool what special effects you can do now for cheap with a laptop and some green screen. He's got making off vids and behind the scenes stuff here: http://www.youtube.com/user/freddiew
Did you see him on that CODMW commercial last year? He was there for just a second.
Wow, sounds like he gets around! He's definitely got talent, that's evident just watching VGHS. He puts a lot of work into his stuff.
Another example of someone using youtube to get noticed.
