Games I Beat:

Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS)

 photo Shin-Megami-Tensei-IV-Tokyo_zpsf051bb62.jpg

Finally!!  I beat this freaking game and I'm glad it's over.  I wonder if this is what being freed from jail is like? Undecided  Over 140hrs.  The best thing about the game is the battles and the demons.  The demons are the most interesting things in the game.  Worse thing about the game is the lack of a decent map.  I'm sure I spent most of the time lost.  The story had potential, but it's not that great.  I'm not even sure what ending I got.  I think it was the good one.  If I had to score it, I'd give it a 6/10.  Take that as you will.  It felt like a chore to play, but I had enough interest to play it to the end.  I really hope I have a better time with Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner - Soul Hackers (3DS).

Games I Playing:

Lollipop Chainsaw (360)

I knew I would like this game from the reviews I read and I'm actually enjoying it more than I would.  I like the art & style of this game.  The story is crazy and fun.  It's not a $60 game, but for $20 it's awesome.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS)

After finally getting SMTIV out of the way, I could start this game.  OoT is my favorite game on the N64 and I'm happy to be able to play it again on the 3DS.

Games I Bought:

Lollipop Chainsaw (360)

Bioshock Infinite (360)

Scribblenauts Unlimited (3DS)

That's all I have.  I didn't buy much.  I have a couple games coming up in the next couple weeks though.  I'm just so glad I got SMTIV out of the way.  What are you guys playing? Cool

Same ones I was last month, lol. Kind of taking a break from gaming for a bit, the last six weeks were crazy busy with all kinds of other things going on. I still have AC2, The Last Window, and Tomb Raider going on. Also playing The Pinball Arcade every so often.

Posted on November 3, 2013 8:47 PM

I started AC2 and stopped.  I just didn't feel like playing it yet.  You play a lot of that Pinball game.  I suck at that game. Laughing

My misspent youth in arcades playing pinball instead of video games, lol.

I'll get Lollipop chainsaw at some point. I'm surprised it's not already on my shelf. Tongue Out

Posted on November 3, 2013 8:26 PM

Really? You don't own it? WTF BEN?!?!?!?!

Posted on November 3, 2013 8:47 PM

Wow.  I thought you had that game already. Laughing

Posted on November 3, 2013 9:26 PM

Yeah, the game had Ben written all over it.

(Hangs head in shame)

140 hourse? Dear God! Cry

Posted on November 3, 2013 8:49 PM

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too.  Everytime I thought I made it to the last boss, the game kept going, which meant more leveling up, better demons, and more hrs wasted on being lost.  It was horrible. Frown

Congrats on beating SMT IV. Boss after Boss is what these games are all about and why I never finished Nocturne. I was at level 99 and still chipping away at Boss battles that took forever to finish.

Posted on November 3, 2013 9:35 PM

Would you say Nocturne is better, worse, or the same as SMTIV?  I started Nocturne years ago and quit before it got hard.  I would like to start it up again, but after what I went through with SMTIV, that may be a while.

Posted on November 4, 2013 12:12 AM

It's a little more straighforward than IV and I liked the story very much. Just not the end game.

Posted on November 4, 2013 4:32 AM

That's what I like about the SMT games, the Demons. I have yet to start SMTIV. Looks like I'm in for some serious RPGness.

I love that image of Ocarina of Time 3DS!

Posted on November 4, 2013 10:50 AM

There are plenty of new demons too.  A lot of time and love went into creating the demons.  Damn shame I can't say the same for a few other things.

Posted on November 5, 2013 4:14 AM

I want to find a demon of my very own.

Posted on November 4, 2013 10:12 AM

yeah SMT IV feels like a chore to me too.  There's a lot of things I like about it, but it's just not fun to me.  It's too bad.

Posted on November 4, 2013 10:53 AM

There were plenty of times I wanted to quit and then I saw the amount of time I put into the game.  I didn't want all that time to go for nothing.  I just kept pushing forward and hoping the end was near.  I'm glad to say, "I made it through the whole game without lowering the difficulty level". Cool

Posted on November 4, 2013 11:15 AM

Looks like you got some great ones on the horizon!

I just beat 3D OoT not too long ago, and I still loved it as much as I did whenever it first came out

Posted on November 4, 2013 11:34 PM

Hopefully, I have the time to play & finish OoT before A Link Between Worlds comes out.

140 hours?  hell no, I guess that I did waste my money picking up SMTIV.  I do not think that I will ever be able to sink that much time into the game.

Posted on November 4, 2013 11:42 PM

According to my game log, I spent almost 25 hrs fusing demons. Laughing  If it wasn't for that damn map, I wouldn't of took so long.  I spent so much time lost.  I just wandered around hoping to accidently run into the next area I was suppose to be in.  The game tells you where to go, but not how to get there everytime.  Some areas I found once and couldn't find again.  I also refuse to lower the difficutly, so I did a lot of leveling up.  I read this was suppose to be a 60hr game.  Maybe I just suck. Laughing

Posted on November 4, 2013 11:51 PM

As a counterpoint, I spent 71 hours on it (which is still long, I know, but not unusual for an RPG). I don't know if James is more patient than I am or just more stubborn lol but when I didn't know where to go next (or if I did but didn't know where that was on the terrible map) I just looked up the next location. Saved me hours of aimless wandering.

Posted on November 5, 2013 12:16 AM

I tried to look up a few areas, but the directions didn't help me.  I was lost.  So lost I couldn't following directions.  There were plenty of areas you could go that had nothing to do with story progression.  Gamefaqs had directions were too detailed.  The only time directions were helpful was when I got to Lucifer's palace (or whatever it was) at the end.  I used directions from IGN for that. Laughing

Posted on November 5, 2013 2:21 AM

I used the same IGN guide! I blew through Lucifer's Palace in hopes of finishing the game and then he thwomped me again and again and again, so I went back and spent some time grinding and fusing better demons. The Palace was a good place for that at least.

Posted on November 5, 2013 10:31 AM

I was already in the 80s level by the time I got to Lucifer.  I was able to beat him by the 4th try.  My hardest battle was with that big white head, use to be human, dude (don't remember his name).  He killed me almost a dozen times.  I barely beat him.  It was more luck than anything.  After him, I took out the Whites pretty quick.

Been contemplating getting Lollipop Chainsaw. I played a demo of it, seemed okay for like a $10-$15 game. That and Killer Is Dead.

Posted on November 4, 2013 11:43 PM

I have to get Killer is Dead.

Posted on November 4, 2013 11:58 PM

Killer is Dead is a wonderful game. Pretty short, but a lot of fun, provided you pretend like the Gigolo missions don't exist.

Posted on November 5, 2013 12:05 AM

There are Gigolo missions? Laughing

Posted on November 5, 2013 1:02 AM

Well, yes. They are straaaaaaaaaange beasts.

Posted on November 5, 2013 10:27 PM

That game looks pretty interesting (Killer is Dead). When it gets low enough in price, I'll consider it.

Posted on November 4, 2013 11:54 PM

The demons were great in SMT IV. I loved reading the little descriptions of them and finding out where they came from and what people believed about them. I thought the story was interesting but some of the endgame stuff was really cool, like the other Tokyos and the White. I wish that stuff would have happened sooner and gotten more story time.

Posted on November 5, 2013 12:10 AM

I agree.  By the time I got to the other Tokyos and the White, I almost completely didn't care.  I was already 100 hrs in the game and wanted it to be over.  I had to pretty much force myself to pay attention to the story then and it was interesting.  I came close to just skipping it though.

Posted on November 5, 2013 3:37 AM

Damn, the only game I think I clocked even close to that much time into was FFVII, but not completely sure since the clock stops at 99 hours, lol. I got at least 130 in that one. I love my rpgs, but I don't like it when they get too grindy. Bioshock Infinite is a great game. Need to get it myself, played it via gamefly, but there is supposed to be some interesting dlc for it in the works. I'm currently bouncing around between FF14, Borderlands 2, and playthrough #2 of Mass Effect. Got the soundtrack recently and listening to it made me want to play it again.

Posted on November 5, 2013 10:39 AM

I usually take my time with rpgs.  I'll finish them in about 70 - 80 hours.  I like to explore around and I read slow.  I never put in over 100 hrs in any game with the 1st playthrough before this.

I think I'll start up Bioshock Infinite after I finish Lollipop Chainsaw.  I just want to play something silly before going at a serious story for now.

I'm still avoiding more playthroughs of Mass Effect.  I can't believe I hadn't played a ME game in months.  Hopefully, I can finish out the year without playing any of them.

Excellent choices for Octoberween gaming! Glad to hear you enjoyed Lollipop chainsaw better than the 3DS game. I need to see about that game in the future.

Posted on November 15, 2013 1:05 AM

I would have bought Lollipop Chainsaw. I wanted it for a long time. I don't know if I will eventually get it. I do want to play it. I like crazy over the top crap such as it.

Posted on November 15, 2013 10:41 PM

I've been waiting for the price to drop for a long time.  It's seems it won't lower more than $20.  I picked it up during the buy 2 get 1 free sale and it was worth it.
