If you release an update to something that is most known because it reverts back to something you do well, don't fucking change that cocksucking something you do well for a second time!

Let me left-click on the Start button, you IDIOTS! The hell is the point when I have to remember something counterintuitiuve to the set-up your OS has always had and spend enough time realizing you were dumb enough to make me right-click the goddamned start button that at that point I may as well use the stupid tiles that don't do much for my non-touch-screen laptop?! When people want you to go back to the way you have always done things, just go back to the way you have always done things. "Don't go full retard" doesn't mean go half way in both directions!

Ok we made this mostly as easy as it was, but Tropic Thunder seems to dictate that we tweak it ever so slightly again ...

This is the shit that happens when you operate in a nation where some people consider a guy with the last name of a type of pork a legitimate scientist; what a bunch of fucking anti-Semites. Fuck you, Windows 8.1 for you mildly inconvenient use, and fuck Al Gore for whatever he did today, I'm sure it involved oil, hypocrisy, and making a terrible PR move that politicized a serious issue somehow.

And fuck pork, too. The guy that showed me dinosaurs as a kid is right, we need to compete and be less scientifically illiterate in this nation, and it begins with admitting that bacon is overrated.

Now I need to read my research book and get to bed, since tiredness is akin to driving drunk, especially for me, in which case it's worse.

Kids, for the love of God, just drive high in a 20mph zone, you'll be the safest car on the road.

Oh, and I have a date this weekend.

Also, let me know if you think of good alternative rock or Classic Hits (think oldies and classics, especially from 70s, 80s, 90s).

Good night. Remember to smoke your dope before you drive tonight. You know why, you road raging piece of shit. Let's take it slow.

Classic alt rock? Make sure you play some non-Blister in the Sun Violent Femmes, and a little Liz Phair to ease you back down.

Your blog is crazy. I like it.

Well, classic alt rock too, but what I mean is we're alt rock except for 10am to 6pm on weekends, when we change the format to Classic Hits. Thanks for the suggestions, and ... compliment?

we bought a Windows 8 computer for xmas for my parents, whose last machine is dying and is XP I think.  I warned them, but they were like, "It's cool."  Now they don't even use it, they still use the old one.  Ridiculous. Tongue Out

Shoulda just got a 7. Tell them to dl Classic Shell, or do it for them.

Yeah, Windows 8 sucks. Good thing my dad set my computer to never enter that dashboard.

But as for pork, screw you! Bacon is awesome.

If you want some Alt Rock for your station, I recommend Pixies, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, maybe Happy Mondays and I guess 90s Placebo.

We have all those (actually got new Pixies on very recently) I think,  but I'll look into what songs.

While my laptop may be a stuttering mess at times, at least I don't have the added headache of having to deal with Windows 8.

.1  ... yeah I updated for that Start button, and have to right click it, which completely ruins the main reason I updated to start with. Yell

Not a fan of new Windows. I had to set up a couple of laptops with it and I still don't get the panels.

As for music, I liked Belly. They only had two albums but I enjoyed what they offered. Also Breeders, Flaming Lips, and Weezer would be good.

They're for touch screens and work well with those; I'm jealous of the two girls I know who have touch screen laptops.

I'll check out Belly; we definitely have the other three you mentioned.

See...this is exactly why I got Windows 7 64-bit with my Alienware machine I setup a couple of weeks ago.  I just don't trust Windows 8 enough to commit to it.  It's stupid and my dad just got finished telling me that he purchased a new laptop for my mom, and she wanted Win 8 even though he tried to warn her.  Now she regrets having win 8 as her OS.

same happened to Snee's parents he said.

I HATE Windows 8. Whoever came up with it needs to be drawn, quartered, and have his head mounted on a pike for public display. Microsoft just doesn't get it - if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!

But don't you bad mouth bacon. Bacon is heavenly.

Posted on February 6, 2014 4:45 AM

I like bacon, there's some in my fridge now, but I prefer sausage and am not as crazy about it as the Internet.

And I actually have 8.1, which added the Start button back ... then made you right click to use it; just to give you an idea of how hard they don't get it.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

If anything I thought Ham didn't put out enough "thinker" questions about the intitial findings that carbon dating is only good for 5000 years. But then again those are the same comments that brand creationist scientists nothing more than fringe crazies.

As much as I'd like to offer Nye proof, most of what he offered was still based on scientific theory than proven fact. It's one of the things that really turned me off to scientists these days that they are now holding the mindset that if you can think of the theory and the math/concept sounds possible even before fully trying all venues of reasearch then it has to be true! It's almost as bad as the conspiracy nutters or the one scientist at UConn that says he's built a time machines.

Posted on February 18, 2014 8:55 PM

Scientific theory is a bit different than "just a theory" as it's used in colloquial terms. It has predictive qualities that have been proven to work or not disproven as expected, as Nye pointed out several times. Also, it's never posited that a theory is 100% perfect, but scientific theories are based on solid, empirical evidence available. Hence why evolution and gravity are still very strong theories (laws are actually rules within these theories by the way; scientific theories don't "graduate" to become laws as many people mistakenly think) and the UConn guy has Olum, Everett, Gott, and Stephen Hawking being very critical of his theory.

You can thank evolutionary and germ theory for a lot of modern medicine by the way, as evolutionary theory helps us understand how certain harmful things will evolve to withstand medications, meaning we need to make new ones to stop them.

As for C-14 dating, it relies on assumptions that don't work for everything, like freshwater mussels, but the idea the Earth is only 6,000 years old is still a bit nuts to me, as it can still date well within a range of 20,000 years. Admittedly, the idea that Genesis was meant to be taken literally is also a bit questionable to me. To me, it's a fable passed down first through spoken word then translated however many times into English. Having read it, it reads much more like a fable to me than a historical account, and I believe it was intended to be. I was never taught to take it literally even when I was Catholic.

Simply put, those on Ham's side do not have a good understanding of science, and that's a huge problem for our society. I swear I'll wake up one day and U.S. citizens will deny the theory of gravity because it's "not a law."

There's a reason Creation scientists are branded the way they are: they're not good scientists. Scientists are never perfect, but they don't fundamentally misunderstand science the way "Creation scientists" do.
