Just a warning that if you purchase Tomba! 2 - The Evil Swine Return from PSN this week you're in for a surprise. It is actually the Japanese Tomba! The Wild Adventures and oh yeah it's completely in Japanese.

Surprised the fuck outta me.

I've already blogged today so no Panda. Just a public service announcement.

Update: Having been on Monkeypaws site they make it very clear that it is the Japanese version. They've even posted a translation doc and walkthrough. It was Sony who chose to post the US box art and forget to mention that it is in Japanese.

It's only 6 bucks but I'm pissed at them on principal.

Never did play that one.

The Tomba! games are great 2.5 D platformers with RPG elements. I'm going to have to find a translation doc to play this one. You don't know until you've bought it that it's not what you think.

Looks like someone should have pirated. Tongue Out I'm kidding.

Yeah I can't believe MonkeyPaw did this. Tomba 2 is such a text-heavy game, there's no way you can play the Japanese version if you don't know the language.  If I get to review it, I'm going to give them a good thrashing because of it.

Yeah, here's me thinking cool I'll be able to play both Tombas on my PSP. There's no indication anywhere that the game is in Japanese.

They tell you that it is on their website, but it's done very secretly. Not cool.

Yes Monkeypaw made it very clear that this is the Japanese version. Sony chose to hide that fact.

There wasn't some kind of warning saying it was in Japanese? I suppose you could look up the translation online, but why should you have to do that?

Well that sucks, it would have been nice if they released an English version. The Tomba games are hard to find without spending a lot, and when it's released in a digital format...it's in a different language. I also blame Tomba for the lack of bonus Pandas in this blog. Tongue Out

I never gave it a second thought. I saw Tomba! 2 The Evil Swine Returns and thought excellent, I'll be able to play both on my PSP. Now I have a useless Tomba game that is only good for comic relief.

Wow,sorry you got hit with an untranslated game that is not even what it's advertising to be. You have my heartfelt condolences,Peter! Yell But hey, remember the time I accidentally bought vanilla Ninja Gaiden 3 when I thought I bought Razor's Edge? Think back on my misery to make yourself feel better! Tongue Out

Thanks Ben. I've been poking around and it seems like Monkeypaw clearly mentions on their site that it's the Japanese version. Sony however chose to hide that fact until they got my money. :(

thanks for the heads up. I've been hoping that the first game will be given away for free later on in PS Home's Quest for Greatness metagame.
