BaD #11 & 12: Too many roadblocks

Hey all. As you can see I’m still functioning or in lock up over my birthdays celebrations (yes I said BIRTHDAYS, I’ll blog on it later) so doing any “Bonus BaD” blogs over the weekend didn’t happen. I was having too much fun that I didn’t even get around to taking beard shots of myself. Sure I did take other pictures of myself during the weekend but those are a bit personal, and could also be used against me in a court of law.

But I did have the usual time I would need to continue this year’s BaD’s but once again technical issues got in the way. My internet got throttled down for a third time which prompted me to call my ISP to find out what was going on. And after going thru the usual computer operator and being put on hold to report a problem AND THEN troubleshooting with a tech on the line I was finally able to learn the following:

Due to unusual polar temperatures (yes they actually used that term) and double digit wind chill temperatures, my area’s network infrastructure is undergoing maintenance/repair/downtime for the rest of the month. They hope to be back up to normal running operation by the beginning of the 1st quarter.

I want to be mad but then again my area is rather remote and I’m lucky to get cable internet to begin with. For most of the winter I’ve had pretty consistent internet with very little downtime. Though our winter hear has not been as bad as it could’ve been, my area has gotten off pretty lucky all things considered. But it still sucks that I will get a throttle down to my internet speed at no warning anytime of the day.

Because of this I’m considering giving up doing BaD’s again. Two years ago it was because of Valentine’s Day. Last year it was my Birthday’s. It just seems I’m not able to catch a break when it comes to BaDs. And I really want to do BaD this year; I haven’t really found it a chore and I’ve really enjoyed reading up on other peoples BaDs and comments, even if I’m behind by 250 messages. And that’s just on pixlbit alone! But having two blogs lumped together doesn’t seem to be in the spirit of “Blog A Day”, even if I did spend the time to write an individual blog before I had to scrap that idea and create a whole knew (and longer) one.

Hers’s another back to back beard pictures. I think you might start to see why I’m not one for growing out my beard. If you look closely you can see that my beard color is not consistent. It’s a patchwork of black, brown, ginger, red, white and silver. Not sure if this is the norm for most beard growers but I’m not sure if this is something one would like to have in their beards. There are other issues at play too but I won’t get into them just yet.

Till next time I’ll try to see about piecing together what happened during my birthdays and see if I can return that traffic cone I found in my bed. Every year….

Wise “BaD” message of the day: Never step onto a cruise ship and say out loud: “This is my favorite kind of ship: Running with blood and seamen.”

I see mostly black hairs, but awesome you were able to have fun.

so far the black is showing. But give it time and some other colors will soon appear.

I can't do BaD either, bro! I'm not as young, imaginative, and comitted as I used to be! At least you have the excuse of "polar temperatures bringing down the infrastructure". lol.

that excuse just cracks me up to. Me thinking next year I just might have to be a reader than a participate. I can't seem to hang with the younglings this go around.

I think it's an excuse they give for having crappy infrastructure.

I believe you. Our area isn't the best when it comes to high speed internet. Only the major cities get the good connections. INfact one town over is still stuck with dial up. I have noticed that they are beginning to line fiberoptics in the towns around the area.

Double up. Triple up. Heck do one blog and call it 1-20... Darn I just realized there are 20 days in BaD and 20 sides to a DnD die. Why didn't I think of that before? Huh? The possibilities...

Do I sense a D&D theme BaD series in the possible future?

I can see how to make that work...

Oh yeah. Let's do another one in the middle of the summer!

I'm not really a big fan of Blog A Day.  There's no way I can do it.  It's hard to keep up with everyone's blogs, and good ones can get lost in the shuffle.  Plus, I'd rather read and write well-crafted blogs instead of posting cat pictures.  But that's just me.

I can see why you wouldn't be able to do BaD's. You seem to have a heavy workload with all the blog reviews you do, even in the bunches you post at any given time. I like the BaDs myself in helping to promote community and personal expression. Hopefully you could share more about yourself than just the wordings of your blogs. I don't even recall seeing your real face as an avatar pic.

Well written blogs are one thing but it doesn't hurt to share a little something about yourself. BaD's is my excuse to let others see how the "virtual reality soicopath" ticks.

ive got the same beard problem as Sonic...various colors...but I still let that shit grow.  I've had to for my job, sorta...the machines I run throw steel shavings and chips that are very very hot and very very hard to dodge; the beard protects my face and neck =)

Posted on April 13, 2014 4:44 PM

Long ago I use to do the same thing myself. Not if not out of surrender to nature but in how I was forced to keep my faced shaved in highschool (I went to christian school). I've heard from old machinists how a beard helps protect them when they don't want to wear the bulky face shields. I was still concenred just the same for fear of it catching on fire if one hot piece of metal stayed in the beard for far too long.

I'm not sure how my beard would look if I let it grow to long and if the multicolors would help or hinder things. It's bad enough I get ingrown hairs.

lol, right on about the beard catching fire.  I've been lucky enough to not experience that yet, though I've taken a few hot ones to the neck.  Shit'll leave scars.

Dude it's good to see you throwing comments again!!

it's good to be back. I look forward to reading your blogs on here since it was a pain trying to find blog postings of friends you follow on IGN. I still can't figure it out even with the site revamp.

ditto!  the new layout took it all to hell.  gimme the old stuff anyday

Posted on February 19, 2014 11:53 AM

Hope to see your birthday blog, and don't worry, I think that's a perfect reason for leaving BaD.

Posted on April 13, 2014 4:28 PM

Well even now I'm still trying to recall what all exactly happened. I'm just glad I didn't end up in jail again.

....

wait did I just type that...

Posted on February 19, 2014 2:24 PM

Only 9 days left but if you can't do it you can't do it.

Posted on April 13, 2014 4:30 PM

9 days seems so long. Too bad the situation was a forgone conclusion.

Posted on February 19, 2014 8:12 PM

I have a similar patchwork of colors as far as my beard goes, though I find it rather interesting.

Posted on February 20, 2014 4:44 AM

Same here. I have blonde, dark brown, gray, and red. The red is the weird part. I have no red hair anywhere but on my face, apparently.

Posted on April 13, 2014 4:35 PM

My family was able to trace where I got the various hair colors in my beard. It's already odd enough that I'm hairy and native americans are not normally hairy.

Posted on April 13, 2014 4:31 PM

I original did myself with my beard. But when more white begins to show it starts to make me look like an old man. And we can't have that now can we. Frown
