If you are fan of Street Fighter, then you will know that this weekend is probably the most important weekend of this year so far. Why? Because after months of teasing, dropping minuet hints, and good old Capcom trolling, the reveal of the fifth character, and the only new character, for Ultra Street Fighter 4 will finally be revealed at Atalanta, Georgia based fighting game tournament Final Round XVI. So far what is known about this mysterious character is very detailed but surprisingly still vague: The fifth character is a female who has never been in a SF game before but has been introduced in the Udon Street Fighter Comics. This has lead to a whirlwind of guess at who she is. So I turn to you all and ask who do you think the character is...or should be is if you had a choice? For me I have a pretty good idea who it is...a doll. Not a real doll mind you. A doll of the SF variety. Its a kind of a long story that involves the weirdness of SF's convoluted story.

The dolls come from Street Fighter Alpha 3 and were M.Bison's secret all female assassin squad. They were brainwashed teenagers, kidnapped from their homes, and had robotic-like emotions to only followed M.Bison's command. While there were 12 of them, two of them were boss characters in the original SFA 3 arcade game and finally playable in the home console ports, Juni and Juli. Both of them played similar to Cammy, who was also a doll but a special one because she was a clone of Bison...who whore a reveling outfit...and was about 16... look, SF's canon is bonkers as it is so let's stop with the history lesson.

So why do I think its a doll as the 5th character in USF4? For starters, Cammy has an expanded role in SF 4's story, the small fragments that exist mind you. Furthermore, in the Super Street Fighter 4's anime OVA, the dolls make a return as well as the two playable dolls, Juni and Juli, make cameo's in Cammy's and T.Hawk's endings in SSF4. Heck, even in Street Fighter X Tekken the doll's make a cameo. One time as a billboard advertisement and Christie's Swap costume is a based of the doll's costume. Also, former SF producer and full time Troll Yoshirio Ono dropped a hint via Twitter than the new character is very fast, a characteristic shared by all of the dolls.

Of course, while I'm certain its a doll, there's a quite a bit of holes in it. I mean the dolls weren't introduced in Udon comic. Nor have I read all of the comic so I don't know if there were some original characters that were introduced during the series that might also fit that description. There's another the possibility that all of the hints also could be for another famous non-playable character, Sarai. Sarai is a ninja and friend to Ibuki who's been seen around in her ending since her debut in SF 3. She's also veyr popular in the Udon comic and even had made a cameo in a SF X T background.
Well, I've talk a lot about who I think it is, probably a bit too much sorry, so I'll ask it you all. Who do you think it is the fifth character is? Or who would you like the fifth character to be? Feel free to leave your thoughts down below and make sure to tune into Final Round which will be starting in a few hours soon. Even if you don't care about Street Fighter, Final Round is a really great tournament to watch for great fighting game matches. Check Eventhubs and SRK for a stream.
I would like to see Karen from Alpha 3 come back. She had a tricky defensive play style that could be beastly if you got the timng right. Not familiar with the comic so I have no idea with that clue, but I think you are right that it could be one of the dolls.
Karin would be awesome. I'd also love to see Alex or R.Mika come back, too.
Don't really give a shit about a comic-specific character. Hopefully they'll be cool enough to change my mind once they're revealed.
R.Mika was crazy, I wanted to be good with her so bad, but I never could really fully grasp her play style. Which makes no sense to me because I tear ass with Zangief, lol.
Karin and R.Mika are really good choices. Truth be told I don't know why Capcom really isn't taping into the SFA 3 cast that much. I've heard once that it was licenicing but I really doubt that.
I really liked the Alpha games, some people didn't. On the other hand I wasn't too keen on Street Fighter 3 and some people loved it.
I'll Have to re-read the My Udon Collection now as i'm pretty sure there was one Doll created specifically for the sreies.
I've heard the same thing but for the life of me can't remeber her name. :(
Before I read about it being a female character, I was going to say Alex. He has been out of the spotlight. Having him rematch Hugo or fight Zangief would be fun. I am a big Street Fighter fan. (:
If its any consolation, neither does Capcom. In that Street Fighter X Tekken stage shown in that picture, in the far left corner, there's a billboard featuring Alex saying " I will return." Does this mean he will show up in Ultra? Doubtful, but Capcom's been talking big all year about how much UItra was going to make an impact so I wouldn't rule it out. Just not as the 5th.
Cool!
Not sure who it could be, but new characters in games are always fun to discuss and speculate. If I were to choose a character, tbh I'm not even sure who to pick, but I'd love to see Batsu. I only know of him through Tatsunoko vs. Capcom but I'm pretty good with him.
Rival Schools, where Batsu is from, is kind of an enstranged branch of the SF series. There are a lot of people that want to make the series return, but its apparently licencing over voice actors that keeps the series from returning, at least in the West. Which is why Bastu keeps popping up, Capcom's can get his voice actor.
Thats what they need to bring back is Rival Schools. That game was a blast.
I love playing street fighter but at the sametime I never kept up with the story. I prolly should have but normally when I played it a long time ago me and my sister cassie would just fight one another constantly. I do kind of wish they were launchng it for the PS4 but hey SF5 might be around the corner eventually for it.
Actually its been a long standing rumor that Ultra might be PS4 bound. During its greatness awaits campaign, there were ads for Hadouken Cabs apart of it and SF producer Ono had tweeted a pic of his signature Blanka with a PS4 controller. So I'd watch this weekend for any news on that.
I couldn't hazard a guess, especially since I'm not familiar with the comics the character is supposed to come from.
I've only read...well watched a motion comic of the first one. I believe if you go to Udon's website or the SF 25 anniversary, its available for free.
I liked Juni and Juli because I like to think they were M. Bison's bumbling sidekicks lke Bebop and Rocksteady and would always mess things up. I know that's not how they are, but I think it would be funny if that was the case. If I were a bad guy, I'd like to have Juni and Juli on my team.
I don't know much about the Udon comics, but it would be cool if the new character were a circus strongwoman or something like that.
The only circus character I know of from SF was the rumored karate clown that was supposed to be in the first SF4. That character became King Cobra who would then become Rufus...so that karate clown motif I guess didn't get entirely lost.
Having only played II: Turbo and III: Third Strike, I don't know who I'd want that isn't already in there.
Mostly, I just want to play as Glacier from Killer Instinct again, though.
Well, I can tell you the entire cast of the SF II series is in SF 4 but from 3rd Strike: Remy, Tweleve, Necro, Oro, Sean, Q, Alex ,and Gill are left. Part of the reason their out is not being as popular (minus Alex) and the other is that their style is already pretty well resprented as all of their styles are successors to previous characters. Like Remy for example is Guile's successor style wise, Oro is Dahalism's, Sean is Dan's, etc. Hope that wasn't too wordy enough.
Glacius is playable in the new KI but I don't want to get the Xbox One, even if the game looks awesome.
