Personalities that become cults: Can it happen to us?

So I started to think, when does a personality become a cult? I looked at my Steam account and realized Keanes, Jim-bob, and Building-Blocks left me messages. What hurt me was I did not respond to them. (At least not that I can see) This scares me because I notice “you-tube celebs” get this way when they get “too big”. There’s no excuse for neglecting friends. Yeah, mistakes happen but it still made me self conscientious. My biggest adversary is being everywhere. Steam account? Got it! Facebook account? I’m in like flint! Twitter? Yup, I’m there too! There are other places and I feel spread thin at times.

Anyway, I suck as a cult! Let that be a warning to you! The cult of Ben is rather worthless though if you want to entertain yourself by watching me jerk around like a meat puppet online by all means, continue to marvel at my antics of derpitude!

Lastly rest assured unlike Pewds or Dark-Syde-Phil, I don’t make any monetary profit from your allegiance nor will I ever ask for money! Granted, Dave was nice enough to send me a psp but that was from the kindness of his own heart. If I did beg for it I must have been drunk on account I don’t remember a damned thing! Dave is just awesome like that! (Unless I'm wrong. Then I had to suck his dick for a psp!)

Regardless,if I don’t answer you right away it’s all on me brothas and sistas! Chances are I’m just oblivious and in my own stupid world. Mad at you? Why would I be? I’m too mad at myself on most days to redirect my rage at others. (Though I have my rogue’s gallery. Funny folks inhabit it!)

"Rice crispy treats? Send me one million!"

But if you are wondering, here are things you can grace me with to make me happy!

1. A throne chair made of rice crispy treats!

2. Any arts and crafts! I’ll be very grateful! I’m tired of staring at my own crap! Give me something else to look at and appreciate! (Tami has already done this. I promote her to Lieutenant!)

3. A voice modulator so if I ever do start a you-tube channel I can sound suave and mysterious!

5. A big card board cut out of a huge cock to inflate my ego!

6. A box of yaoi mangas…and yuri mangas…don’t ask questions!

7. Your nymphomaniac sister who loves poor artist types!

8. A fur-suit of Conker. Again, don’t ask any questions!

9. Powerpuff girl and Samurai jack dashboard bobble-heads! (I don’t even have a car but I’ll put them on my desk)

10. Strap on boobies….Again, stop asking questions!

I've always wanted to have my own YouTube channel and videos.  But I lack the time, knowhow, money, and energy to do that.  When I was in college and writing for The Dallas Morning News, I thought I'd be a big well-known game reviewer someday, like some of those YouTube channel guys are now.  Unfortunately, it hasn't happened yet.  But at least I still get to review games.

I wonder what kind of demands I would have if I had a cult like you do. :)

I have a big announcement tomorrow on my blog, so you'd better read it when I post it then! :)

PS: The Fifth Element was a great movie.

I actually don't have a "big cult". lol. That was kind of a joke,Cary. But I do feel guilty when I'm not able to get around to everyone. It seems to have been happening more lately.

Well damn, now every time I hear Living Colour, I'll want to eat rice krispie treats and shun people.

Shun them,Joe.....shuuuun! Just like the evil pointing monkey in Family Guy! That's what I do! Adds to my sunny disposition! Tongue Out

Ooh. I want to join your cult! It's the one where we apparently we're apparently rapists/predophiles because we like naked women right?

Posted on March 31, 2014 5:49 PM

Yes,it's that one! We also specialize in otaku neck-bearding and table-top roleplaying dice cartels! Welcome to the inner circle my brother!

I like "neck-bearding". It could really help the group bond and give it a distinct look to scare the public. I want in.

We'll even teach you how to "beard shake"!

If I ever did something that I became 'famous' for, I'd probably be way too embarassed about it to ever get a swelled head over it.

Yeah, having true fame would drive me crazy...and probably more into seclusion!

I too have always wondered how the big wigs are able to handle to continue to keep connected with people when they have so many followers. I consider myself lucky if I get a tweet responce back to any of the peple i follow, let alone blog comments.

Fortunatly I'm glad I'm just a lesser known blogger that might have a decent idea or two. But i get what you mean, how do they do it and how does one avoid it if they do become that big of a personality?
