I've put about 55 hours into Rainbow Moon and I'm not sure I want to finish. Seeing as I've invested this much time I might as well. I just keep thinking that I want the game to end so that I can move on.
I bought it during the recent sale for 6 bucks or something like that. I like the style of the game but being restricted to a 3 member party in an SRPG seems wrong. I do like that it is an SRPG with exploration and not just talking heads-battle-talking heads-battle like most of them are.
The story isn't much to speak of and the flow gets quite repetitive. Fetch stuff, get key to dungeon, fight boss, get artifact, repeat. Boss strategy involves clearing the field of everything that isn't the boss then going to town with all 3 characters.
My chosen party consists of Baldren (Knight type), Trisha (Archer) and Serena (Mage). Serena has one spell that can hit 5 enemies at once and Baldren and Trisha can each take out 3 enemies. When you get a dense field of enemies you can thin the herd pretty quickly.
you seem to get in these situations with a lot of games: BRavely Default, SMT IV, where you've put in oodles of hours but you kind of hit a wall towards the end. But you finished the others...
I liked this game, and it has beautiful graphics, but like you said the small party and the grinding turned me off. A lot of people seem to enjoy this game though. I think there's a sequel coming!
Oh I think I'll finish this one too. Like BD it could be just a phase. I'm really happy I finished BD now. The ending was well worth the journey. I did skip all the optional boss battles though.
My son was giving me shit for that on the weekend. He's playing it now and every time he mentions some chapter 7 battle I say "didn't do that one." :)
I am a big fan of nachos and cheese.
Maybe I'll get that one after another coffee. :P
There's nothing to get, I just had nothing else to add. lol
If its nacho cheese, whos is it??
*groan* :)
I get that feeling when I get close to the 100 hour mark. It hit me in Dragon Quest VIII at about 90 hours and Blue Dragon around the same. Enchanted Arms too, now that I think of it. If they were co-op games, I think it would be different. I played Gears 3 co-op for three months straight (probably 250 hours) and only then started to get itchy for something new.
Well if you do all the side quest etc then it will be over a 100 hours so do like I do take a break then go back to at a later date then when you start back its fresh again take it from me Disgaea series is like that and it took me 3 years to beat Hour of Darkness of course im a completionist and have to do everything possible but I took long breaks but did finish it.
Did you buy any of those extra boosters that are offered with the in game buy content? I thought about that game but I wasn't sure if it was that kind of game that drives you to buy those if you truely want to excell in the game.
I started out without any add-ons but quickly came to realize that the game becomes a lot more grindy that way. I had 6 bucks left over in my wallet so I grabbed some pearls.
Levelling up in Rainbow Moon increases your stat bars but you require a certain number of rainbow pearls to max out each attribute (HP, MP, Strength, Defense etc.)
Rainbow Pearls are granted by defeating enemies but only granted to the one who delivers the finishing blow. You cannot share them amongst your team so if one of them kills the majority of the monsters they get the majority of the pearls for their use only.
Rainbow coins are what you pay for stuff with (duh). they are dropped by enemies and found in bags and chests that just happen to be lying around the landscape
You can also get them for selling materials and surplus equipment. If you buy coins as an add-on it makes buying new weapons, armour and items quite a bit easier. I'm currently playing with just the coins I gather so I have to pick and choose what I buy.
Wow 55 hours. That is a lot of time, but then I probably spent just as much if not more playing NCAA Football. Sounds like you're enjoying this game, props to you my friend!
I just broke 70 hours. I've actually started running into groups of enemies that I have no chance of beating. Luckily the game lets you escape any battle (not sure about bosses) if you get overwhelmed.
I think the longest I've ever spent was on Xenoblade Chronicles. I was well over 150 when I finished that game.
