Resident Evil 4 HD Remake on Steam is Slow As Hell

For me anyway. Tried lowering graphics and resolution etc., but it makes no sense that stuff like Tomb Raider and Arkham Origins run fine while the HD remake of a Gamecube game is giving me problems.

I guess I'll look into it tomorrow, but I'm not digging the way-out-of-sync lips or the slow-as-molasses movement.

As for Origins, the first boss, Killer Croc, is giving me much more trouble than I ever remember having with the bosses in the first two Arkham installments. That health bar is not much to go on.

I may download something a bit more light like a 2D sidescroller next. I don't like figuring out PC game issues. Then again, Fez has kind of a blinky screen and that's pretty lo-fi stuff comparatively.

Truth be told, I think I'm done purchasing Steam games for now and I want a console. Granted, I've built quite the digital library and feel obligated to at least try and burn through it. I'll enjoy myself doing it too, so it's already not a waste of money, but damn, sometimes I miss console simplicity ... except for those no read errors a lot of PS2 games used to have ... and how certain Gamecube and N64 games of mine will freeze ... or the annoyance of having to blow on cartridges ... but still, it seems simpler.

With RE4 change the frame rate from 60 to 30. The game has stupid requirements for a game of its age and for some reason if it goes under the framerate its locked to the speed slows as well. The latest need for speed also had this problem.

Yeah consoles are simpler, and you're generally guaranteed to have a game run but I still think the benefits of PC FAR outweigh consoles. Granted, if your pc falls into the lower end of the spectrum it can suck though.

As far as I know, the HD edition that is on Steam fixes most of the problems of the early PC release (which as they told, was disastrous). Is that the version you are talking about here?

Ummm ... well, I bought this from Steam during this year's summer sale so ...

I'll try that, thank you.

the bosses in Origins are pretty tough, especially Deathstroke.  That requires patience.

Overall it isn't a bad game though.

At first I thought I'd welcome the challenge, but the first boss being this frustrating in these games is unusually, well, frustrating.

Killer Croc isn't hard.

Deathstroke....that fight's a bitch.

Killer Croc is harder to me than any of the bosses I fought in Asylum or City, simply because of how little health I have.

Yeah that's why I like console gaming over PC. It's just simpler.  Like me. :)

and that is why I'm a console gamer.

I hope the port over of the GC RE remake to current consoles don't suffer the fate of RE4 on steam

This is why I love the console games. There are a ton of upsides to PC gaming, but I don't want to make sure my specs can handle the game. I can't remember which game I bought but my older PC laptop could easily support it yet, it was having problems. I said forget it and moved on.
