Well hello there Pixlbiticans. It has been a breezy week here in Sunny Southern California. I like to use the metrological term “Windy As F*ck” when describing the weather. Heck I didn’t even bother to go to the midweek Swapmeet. I bet fake Lego Lady probably had the Red Hulk. So it is Friday, I am excited because the weekend is almost here, I need to buy a birthday gift for my cousin’s kid, and it is time for another Quick Hits!

The Nexus 7 Brick’s Itself

A little background: I left my Nexus 7 completely stock. There was no rooting or the sort. The only thing I did was use a custom launcher, and patiently waited for Android Lollipop. Well on Wednesday I was playing that soda version of Candy Crush and then I saw that Injustice had an update. I was excited because this must be a new character, and I’ve been rolling with my current team so I went to download the update. Well the table froze so I did a hard reset, and then when I went to restart it, it became stuck on the Google logo. After trying a couple of things, nothing happened, and now I have $300 paperweight.

I’m not happy right now, and I am not a fan of the Android operating system. I’m going to wait a couple of months before I decide to get another Android Tablet, I’ll probably start looking at the Samsung Galaxy 4 7 inch tablets.

I do like that it has a micro SD slot so I can throw in a 32GB stick and have 40 GB of space. I have a bunch of games and books to throw on there. The one thing I am pissed at is that I lost my bookmarks in the various books I started reading.

Chris Almost Buys A PS4

Before the fiasco with the Android Tablet, I was finally researching what I wanted to get for the PS4 (also there was some talking into by a nice GameStop employee. She was trying her hardest to sell me on a PS4). Before you say something I was going to buy the PS4 at either Best Buy or Target.

I consulted the coin can* and the PS4 would cost around $150 out of pocket. This is almost as cheap as my 360. So I figured it out that the console, and a game would run me around $200 bucks. Plus I would get it before Black Friday and I could take advantage of the sales.

Well I stood in front of the PS4 for a good 20 minutes at the local Walmart before deciding against it. Why? I don’t need it. It would be nice, but I still have a ton of games I have yet to play on the 360/PS3/Wii, and well that’s basically it. We shall see if my stance changes next week.

*The Coin Can Rule: If I want something that isn’t a necessity goes to the coin can rule. In this rule if I have more than 50% of the cost of the item in the can, I can purchase it.

Chris Receives Some Stuff From SDSU

Before the school year started I got an email that went out to all alumni about donating $10 to SDSU to buy a planner, notebook, and some pens and pencils for incoming Freshmen. Well I bought a couple of them and thought nothing of it. I got an email from the University thanking me and I thought it was cool. Well yesterday I got a small package and inside was this

I think its cool that State sent a thank you card, donor cards, and a keychain. I wonder what the anonymous family at last week’s football game received for their 1.5 million dollar donation.

Randoms

I always say it, Twitter is my place to get the news, and where the tweets coming from my phone/tablet/laptop are usually snarky, about what’s on TV, and what I hope are somewhat funny. One of my favorite tweeters is Darrin Rovell beause he tweets pictures of food, funny sports items, and anything else that catches his eye. Earlier today I saw this and laughed

The good people of Undrcrwn produced a cap that Miami fans would like.

Because I was watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory a couple of nights ago

A couple of things stuck out. The candy storeowner was throwing free candy at the kids who could afford it, but watches Charlie like a hawk. Also Charlie after finding the Golden Ticket drops his candy bar. What kid drops a perfectly good candy bar on the ground? I could start a mini riot by throwing one candy bar in between my three younger cousins.

I don’t know if I mentioned it but I updated my base in Star Wars Commander

And I jumped back into Spider-man Unlimited, and unlocked this guy while trying to get the Spider-girl character

So I downloaded this

And I think this is a great idea to not only embrace technology but also move some CDs (like that is a problem with Taylor Swift). The App itself is basically a commercial for Taylor and American Express. There is a link to buy the album, some bonus behind the scenes content, and Taylor’s latest music video.

Pickups

So while everyone was in line to buy Halo I was picking up

While in line there was a nice GameStop employee who was talking to people in line and the majority of folks were there for Halo (it was 10:30am on Tueday. Why were there some kids in line?) and when she came up to me she was shocked that I was there for Lego. She asked why and I said I don’t own an XBox One, I was loyal to the Playstation platform, and I already own the Halo games…turns out I’m missing Halo 4. This is when the employee asked if I was going to get the PS4, and the wheels started turning in my head.

Going back to Lego Batman 3, its more Lego, and from what I have seen the open world aspect is gone. It might come back, or be unlocked once I finish the game (currently around 8% finished), and from what I have seen the storyline is similar to the Lego Marvel game. Plastic Man was the pre-order bonus, which is cool, and there is a code to unlock him in the game. I also bought $30 in PSN dollars to buy the season pass. What happened to the $20 cards at GameStop?

Yesterday while at the local Walmart staring at the PS4 and debating on which game I would play if I bought it, I decided to pass, and pickup the actual items that was my main purpose to visit this Walmart.

Ok so I did buy a game while I was there

I was thinking about getting this with the PS4, but I decided I would enjoy it more on the PS3. If I did get the PS4 the game of choice would probably Infamous, and UFC. As for this game I haven’t tried it yet because I’ve been caught up in Lego Batman and NCAA Football (Old Dominion is 4-1 with a heartbreaking loss at North Carolina).

Alright Pixlbit it is my weekend, I have a new PS3 game to try out, and I have to go buy some portable batteries for my day trip to Arizona. I might be on my phone all day and I need to recharge it along with the cigarette lighter in the car. I’ve never used it but do cars still have that little piece that heats up? I never bothered to check in my car, and I think the one in the arm reset is just a plastic cap now.

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

Warning: The latest versions of Android will not allow you to store games on the SD Card, only on the internal memory. You can however put books and music on there all you want.

There are utilities that will allow you to move the games to the external SD but you can do that through the OS under Storage if it is possible most of the time.

I don't get why Android developers just won't give you that option to save to the SD without some work around. You're just pushing people towards custom roms. If/when I do get a replacement Android tablet I will probably go with something like Cyanogen like I did with my old NOOKie Tab (Nook Color).

Most cars just have the plastic plug. I think you have to special order for an actual cigarette lighter now. Doesn't bother me, I don't smoke.

You just reminded me that I have yet to a) finish Lego Batman, and b) get Lego Batman 2.

Posted on November 19, 2014 2:44 PM

I'm not a smoker either, its one of those random things you don't notice. On my way to Arizona I checked the truck and just a plastic cover.

Ooh original Lego Batman was fun. The circle of different Batman Abilities is back in Batman 3. Lego Batman 2 was a lot of fun especially if you were going to just wander around Gotham without playing any of the missions.

Classic Superior Spider-Man? Does that mean there's a New Superior Spider-Man? Superior-or Spider-Man?

Comics are weird...

Posted on November 19, 2014 2:45 PM

I didn't know there were so many variations of Spider-man until I started playing this game. The positive is that each one has an info bubble which is nice for folks like myself.

I'm kinda nervous about LEGO games now after LEGO: The Hobbit froze on my Xbox 360 and wouldn't let me finish the game no matter what I did. But I hear LEGO Batman Beyond Gotham has space environments, and that gets me excited.

Posted on November 19, 2014 2:46 PM

I've played a couple of space levels and they are fun, one is similar to ones found in the original Lego Batman game...and of course with space levels you need a Space Batman. I hope they release this figure in actual Lego sets.

man I totally want to play beyond Gotham.

sorry about your tablet.  NExt year I'm going to buy the Nvidia Shield Android tablet. Apparently it is great.

Posted on November 19, 2014 2:51 PM

Thanks, the Shield Tablet from what I've read/seen is a solid gaming tablet and you can buy a controller, and stream some games to it.

Beyond Gotham is a fun game. Its your typical Lego game so if you played the previous games, you can just jump right in. I'm taking this version a little slower than previous games but the best part is the devlopers kept the save points at the beginning of each section so I can take breaks.

If Sony would release Loco Roco 3, I'd buy a PS4 or Vita.

I'm working on reviewing LEGO Batman 3 right now.

Posted on November 19, 2014 2:52 PM

Oh man I forgot about how fun the Loco Roco games were. I wish I would have bought a physical copy of Loco Roco 3.

Dammit I hate myself for not making good on that LEGO Steam sale last weekend.

I'd love some NFS Rivals too.

How would the PS4 have been $140?

Posted on November 19, 2014 2:54 PM

I can only imagine how awesome a Lego Steam sale would be. I don't want to check Steam too often because it'll get me into PC gaming with all the deals.

The PS4 would come out to $150 out of pocket because I have a can that I toss all my loose change into, and I usually use that cash on buying expensive toys like consoles or big Lego sets.

Posted on November 19, 2014 4:14 PM

Oh, so you're saying it's $150 cause you have about $350 in loose change?

Posted on November 20, 2014 3:27 PM

Yup, actually the PS4 is $400, and I had around $300 in loose change so it was around $100 bucks out of pocket.

Im in the same position with the Xbone, I have the money for it but Im just not sure. If I could find a white one decently priced Id def snag it because Microsoft might not keep selling them. I have also been looking at Tablets and Im thinking of getting the Samsung one you mentioned, they have it at best buy for 179.99 with a case and 16gb card bundled.

Posted on November 19, 2014 2:56 PM

Its funny about that tablet, I never really noticed them, but after doing some research on them, they seem to be sold everywhere. A couple of days ago while at Target (I really should just buy stock in them at this point) they had it on sale for $180 but with no SD card. At least I know if/when I get one, I'll have options on where to purchase it.

In my new car I have two cigarette lighter type chargers that are just covered with a plastic plug that has 12V written on it. One of them is in the back near the lift gate. Strangely enough though there's an actual 3 prong plug in the back of the console for people in the back  seat so you can plug your home charger in if you want.
