Well Happy Star Wars Day Pixlbit Empire! Since it is May The Fourth I changed my Facebook Profile Pic to my Star Wars version of Game of Thrones (how good is this season?)

I’m planning on hitting Toys R Us later on today to see what kind of things are going on for the 4^th. I know they have been doing special builds this past weekend and I might pick up a Star Wars set. I know the Lego Online Store has a spend $75 and get

Admiral Yularen minifigure for free. It’s a bit steep just for a minifig, and there are no big sets I want other than the Avengers stuff so I’m sitting this sale out, but if you folks want to take part just click on the Store button on the Lego website.

This past Saturday was Free Comic Book Day and I usually share something like this on my Friday Quick Hits blog, but since I’m doing Star Wars Day I might as well share this as well. So it was Free Comic Book Day and I was probably going to hit it in the afternoon, but my cousin wanted to check it out so I went right around the time the store opened.

Since it is a small store there was a line with I would say a 20-minute wait, which isn’t too bad. There were booths in the front with some local artists, a food truck, games for kids, and a pop up tent where a couple of WiiU’s were setup. There was also a booth next to the line selling water, drinks, and cookies. I went with the regular Chocolate Chip cookie and water, but they did have super hero themed cookies. Since it was a warm day there were a couple of folks dressed up for the Cosplay contest. I told my cousin I should have worn a suit and said I was Daytime Bruce Wayne.

Anyways once inside we looked around, the free comics were scattered around and I said that we had to spend the same amount of time inside that we spent outside. I got to check out some stuff, and I almost bought some Arrow Back issues but decided to just buy the complete book at Barnes & Noble (which I forgot to do…twice) but I did buy some stuff to support the local shop

My two freebie books. You get one for coming in, and one for buying something. You get a third if you dressed up like a super hero or villain. The store posted on Facebook that if we come in today we can grab another book, and if we spend $25 we can get one of each book while supplies last. I might stop buy later on today.

Batman was from the DC rack. I thought it looked cool so I picked it up. I haven’t read much of the New 52 other than the first couple of books. Avengers was from the new releases rack and since I saw the movie on Friday, I was still in the mood.

And more Avengers stuff. I found it interesting that these books also include the digital version.

The April Recap

Since it is the start of the month let’s look back at what games came down from Mount Backlog

I finished three games in the month of April, and I finished the storylines of four characters in Playstation All-Stars. The last game I finished was on the 29^th and that was Mortal Kombat X for the iPad.

This one I was excited for because this was the first iPad fighting game I actually completed, and I am still playing (I want to collect all the fighters.) One of the interesting portions of the game was the inclusion of the Fatalities

These seemed to happen only during boss battles and they were triggered when the screen went to the “Finish Him” prompt, but instead of putting in a complicated move, it was triggered with swipes and presses when they appeared. This along with the incorporations of the X-Ray moves from the console games for the Gold Characters made this game feel more like a Mortal Kombat game, than your run of the mill iPad tapping/swiping fighting game.

I also unlocked another Gold Cassie Cage card, which was exciting because this card isn’t available for purchase in game.

Games I’m Playing

Assassin’s Creed – 360: I started this game yesterday and already I like it more than the other AC games I’ve tried. Since I lost interest early in the later AC games I thought it would be more interesting to play them from the beginning and I’m glad I made this choice.

Rainbow Six Vegas – 360: I also started this game yesterday and so far I don’t like it. The controls are different compared to other FPS games. The story seems weak, and it feels much slower than other games. I might have made a mistake in buying this game.

Battlefield 3 – 360: I think I played Battlefield 2, so why not jump into 3. I like this game because of its pacing, and I need to get used to the names of the buttons because during the quick time events I get lost. I might have to exchange the disc however because the scratches made the beginning of the game go in a loop until I wiped away some dust.

Grand Theft Auto V – PS4: I would have finished more of the game if I didn’t spend all my cash on the Medicinal Shop on the beach. I need to save up some cash so Franklin can continue to work for Lester, and make some cash on the side buying the stocks of the competitor. Heck I might just play through one of them, get some quick cash, and use that money for the stocks for the other missions.

Madden/NCAA Football – PS3: After watching Draft Day I want to lead the Browns to a Super Bowl, or see if the Team Builder feature is still available to NCAA Football and then I’ll create a new college team.

WWE Immortals – iPad: I need to finish this week’s tournament so I can have this card added to my collection

The one drawback was that I had to spend $40K on unlocking The Ultimate Warrior because one of the fight trees needed the Warrior to be in the group. I was saving up the cash for another gold card.

Later on today I will be playing this

Because I want to run around and take out bad guys with a lighsaber.
