Today I picked up some VG stuff. I thought I wouldn't do the Halo novels that came out this year because there's at least three of them, but I did, and got two of them. Then I started gathering some games for my project in January looking at the 16th century (I was tired today and couldn't work out). I made a list and put books, art, music, and games. With regards gaming, unless I wanted to play backgammon or draughts (checkers), I had to find a better solution. So I did some research on video games that take place in the 16th century. I've only got a short list so far, so more work will need to be done. Below is a pic of today's stuff.
That's Halo: Hunters in the Dark by Peter David. I read other video game related books by Mr. David - his Fable one in particular. I already have Halo: Last Light, and there is one other Halo novel that came to print this year that I don't have, Halo: New Blood by Matt Forbeck. I haven't seen that at the two Barnes & Nobles I went to, so I'll have to find it one way or another. I still have a third and fourth B&N in my area to check.
The loose CD is Onimusha Warlords, which takes place in the Sengoku period in Japan, and that's Assassin's Creed Revelations and AC: Brotherhood. These are some of the weakest of the AC series I'm told, but I want to try them out for their setting in the 16th C. Since AC II completes the Ezio series, I suppose that one is also set in the 16th C. I'll have to double check that and add it to my list. I have AC II digitally on Xbox 360 since it was free one month.

What century is Soul Calibur supposed to be set in?
According to the wiki page, the first game called Soulcalibur centers around a Spanish pirate named Cervantes de Leon who holds the mystical sword Soul Edge. He's definitely from the 16th or 17th century, part of the Age of Discovery in the West. But there are legendary characters from all different times in the game too. I wonder about the settings of the fights, whether they are noticeably of that time, or of many different times/places?
battling for your soul is timeless. 
Parts of the game look kind of 16th century-ish, so that's why I was asking. I don't really know much about the storyline to those games. They could all be fighting for the last piece of Taki's birthday cake for all I care. I just have fun playing them, as they are some of the few fighting games I actually like.
Well, if there are 16th century settings, I may have to check that out.
