One of my biggest problems lately is that there are too many games I want right now. There's been a real resurgence in RPGs from Japan lately, in a way I haven't seen since the PS2. Maybe even the PS1, which was the most RPG-friendly console in history. And like everybody else, I have adult responsibilities, which include feeding, clothing, and medicating my family, keeping my car running, and keeping a roof over our heads in the fourth most expensive state in the United States. I just had two back-to-back $600 total tire replacements to deal with. :( So I have to pace myself on buying games. But as my mother always told me, you gotta spoil yourself every once in awhile and have fun.

I've been wanting The 7th Dragon III Code: VFD for awhile. So I pulled out my Gamestop app on my phone and tracked it down. It's a bit hard to find these days, but my Gamestop app showed me that a Gamestop in Baltimore had a new copy of it. This Gamestop is in a particularly rough part of Baltimore, which is a pretty rough city to begin with. But this GS not only had a new copy of The 7th Dragon, they had a collectors' edition! I'd have just been happy to have found a bare bones edition. So I went ahead and bounced for it.

I'm really enjoying it. It's a dungeon crawler, and plays like a third-person version of Etrian Odyssey. And apparently a lot of the people involved with Etrian Odyssey are also involved in The 7th Dragon series. And since I prefer third-person games over first-person games, that's just fine with me. I guess it's produced by the woman who was the lead artist for the Genesis Phantasy Star games, Rieko Kodama. Anyway, it helped make sitting at Pep Boys for several hours yesterday a lot more bearable.
