This tactical RPG was released originally only in Japan for Super Famicom. It was then ported to the Sega Saturn and Sony Playstation. You'll notice that it looks a lot like Final Fantasy Tactics, and indeed it has the same mold of that game. Your goal is to build up a team of several characters with changeable classes and fight battles. The order of movement is determined by the speed of individual characters, in contrast to games in which each side moves its entire team at once. Most human characters begin as either amazons or soldiers. By leveling up correctly, they can later progress to the other male or female classes, although most advanced classes are limited to certain alignments, lawful, neutral, or chaotic. Another feature is the "Warren Report," a type of database on the land, people, encounters and races of Valeria. The remake is the definitive version of the game, making tweaks to the leveling system as well as other modes, the World and Chariot systems.

this is one of my favorite games of all time.  So much depth, so replayable, so much customization.  I love it, and have been playing it now and again for like 8 years now.

That's great, Matt. This is a great series for sure.

I gotta be honest. The title of the game alone is a gigantic turn-off for me. I always wish I liked these games, cause then there'd be more to play, but alas.

Hey, I'm not much into strategy RPGs either, but they're great games. How is the title a turn-off for you? Is it "tactics" or "ogre" that bothers you?

Both. Tactics reminds me It's a strategy game, which I suck at ( I'm ok at chess, but not virtual strategy) and Ogre is an aesthetically displeasing fantasy creature.

It should be a term to describe a game with a really difficulty strategy element, a real "tactics ogre".

I always wanted this game. I have Ogre Battle March of the Black Queen.

I had the cartridge but then it came out on Virtual Console, so I gave it to my friend Mark and bought it on Wii. I kind of wish I'd kept it now.
