All Gen Gamers had a rare podcast recently and they mentioned this web site Play DOS games online. It has thousands of old dos games that you can play right in your browser, no download required and no fee. I'm super excited because they have Wizardry: Crusaders of the Dark Savant, a 1992 RPG that I've always wanted to play. This is going to help me immeasurably in my slow progress through the past. In March I'm going to be looking at 1969, too old for dos games (MS-DOS is 1981-1995), but I'll get to them eventually.
Also, The Game Developer's Conference has just started today! It'll be going on all week. I'm excited to hear all the news from it through my podcasts; although, now that I'm not driving very much, I may have to look stuff up on their web site instead.
May the BaD be with you.
I'm gonna have to look through these. I posted the link on Tami's facebook, she would get a kick out of this.
Lots of stuff I've never heard of but lots I have too.
Oh my gosh, that website is terrifying. It's like...the potential time sink just boggles the mind
I'm pacing myself.
Holy crap! This is a goldmine folks. If you don't know DOS, you've been missing out on access to some of the most groundbreaking games of all time, games the media won't talk about even though modern games are still trying to do what some of these games did.
I'm going to be using this site a lot from now on. I want to play those Space Quest games to start.
Man, that is cool. I only got to play a handful of DOS games. I didn't get a computer until 1994, and DOS seemed like it was on the way out and CD-ROM was in. Something cool about those VGA graphics since my nostalgia comes in the form of NES and SNES sprites.
I guess I played Wizardry on Apple IIc and Shadowgate on a Mac. That was about it for those years. I missed many, many cool DOS games. I just ran through a bunch of space flight sims. The Play DOS site works great. Games load fast and you're off to the races.
Immediately played Gods, and a Chuck Yager game. Still can't fly a plane lol.
Real plane controls are baffling to me. I only just started getting a slight handle on them playing the Battlestations games. Only Crimson Skies did I like the flying, probably because you could turn around in an instant. Can't do that with real planes.
OMG Lemmings. Goodbye world. Someone tell me when it's time to go get my Switch
LoL.
I like sites like this because I played a couple of these old games when I was younger. There's another site similar to this but I forgot the name. Maybe if I look through my bookmarks.
The Archive site is cool. There's a bunch of interesting stuff but I don't know if the games are still available to download. I just noticed there's a section with live recordings of some artists.
Oh yea, forgot about Archive.org. I've gotten stuff from there from time to time.
