I began today's gaming by playing Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel solo for a while and avoiding the final boss fight with the Empyrean Sentinel. I went to play the Holodome DLC instead. It's just a large arena and you have to survive five rounds and then one more crazy hard round. I just did one because I dislike arena fights unless I have friends in there with me.
Then I went to the Claptastic Voyage DLC where you go inside Claptrap's mind. Unfortunately I was in over my head at level 26. Enemies were at level 31 and higher. Battles were tough and sometimes impossible. I stopped a few missions in and returned to Condordia, the home town, with my health throbbing near zero. I felt like a soldier back from a tough battle, broken and weak.
To rehabilitate, I went around to finish up some side missions from the main campaign. There I was pretty powerful and wrecked house. I got the achievement for finding all the named locations in the Hyperian Hub and Helios Station areas. I also nailed the kill while airborne with a sniper rifle after rotating 360 degrees achievement.
Then I joined Mark's game to help him beat Colonel Zarpedon, and we continued together until we beat the final boss. The Empyrean Sentinel is your classic multistage, insanely desperate boss battle. I really hate boss fights but they are satisfying to finish.
Then we attacked some easy achievements like sufocating for five minutes (get yourself a Moxxtail health regen drink, take your ox kit off and go find a place on the moon's surface), winning a duel with another player, drinking one of every Moxxtale boost drinks, and reviving a player with oxygen ten times. Then we tried to get the freeze enemies solid and slam three of them at once achievement. I had a SMG that freezes enemies solid that worked really well, but we didn't get it. We couldn't find enough enemies that would stay alive long enough. Not a really hard achievement, just got to find the right place and the right enemeis.
But both of us were kind of done with Pre-Sequel. I think if you look at the hours I put into the Borderlands games this year, it correlates pretty closely to which games I enjoyed the most: Borderlands 1: 72 hours; Borderlands 2: 103 hours, Borderlands Pre-Sequel: 37 hours. They are all great games though.
Today I picked up Tales from the Borderlands for XBO and will tackle that next, for the second time. I hope it runs better on XBO than it did on X360.
That's a day. Have a lovely week.
Colonel Zarpedon? Good name.
Looks like it took less licks to get to the center of the presequel tootsie rolll pop than the other games.
Her full name is Tungsteena Zarpedon. Handsome Jack laughs at her at one point in the game and tells her she must've had a rough time in high school and that her parents must've hated her for naming her that. Jack makes jerky comments like that all the time, but that is a funny name without the military title.
That one achievement about spinning 360 and shooting someone in the air with a sniper rifle sounds tough. Congrats on that and finding all the named areas. I think my copy of Pre-Sequel is a vanilla copy or else I would have tackled the DLC.
There's not much DLC for Pre-Sequel. One's an arena and another is a true level. The rest was extra character types like Aurelia The Baroness and something else I forget right now that was minor.
