Two games entered my collection and a whole lot left it in trade, which reminds me, I have to update my backloggery. Here's some pics.

I'm going to write more about Atari Flashback Classics Vol. 3 later. I've played everything and spent some time going for achievements. I'm starting this blog late tonight, so it'll have to wait. I got this at a Gamestop before my preorder arrives in the mail, and taking too long. I'll give the extra copy to my friend Mark.

Oops. I took the wrong picture of the box for Dragon Quest XI. That'll have to wait too. I played about a half hour of it so far and so far I like it. Turn-based but your not put in a line against the enemy, they stand more naturally as if you were attacking in real-time. In the first battle, I actually thought it was going to be in real-time but then realized otherwise. I like the turn-based battles. It slows things down a little and I can relax. I automated the battles to get through the first mission, of a sorts, because it was late when I started it.

Tomorrow is the DLC drop of Fortune Island for Forza Horizon 4. I'm excited and will be digging in immediately. I'm getting a copy for Mark too, because he was going to wait, and I said, "No way hombre!", you gotta start it too. So we'll do that.

I put that Atari clasics collection on my Christmas list.  Gotta give the family some ideas to get me.

A lot of them, I'd never played before. It's good they let you adjust sensitivity on the analog stick. Some of those games used spinners, steering whells or track balls and are a pain to play at default settings. Also, a lot of the games are 2-player on this collection. I gotta do a blog on it soon.

Hey, welome to the DQ XI party! Lemme know if you need any hints or tips.

How about, how the heck do I use magic? I kind of rushed my first minutes with the game and didn't have time to learn everything - or anything. Seems like it should've been more obvious though. When I put tactics on, my character used his magic. That's when I knew he had some.

There should be a menu option for spells and one for abilities in the fight menu. Spells are spells you've learned (magic), and abilities are special moves or abilities that you are taught, get from the story, or learn in your skill tree. They all use MP, so you want to keep an eye on what the MP cost is for both spells and abilities.

To heck with MP costs. I'm letting it rip as much as possible. I'm so tired of "cost" in video games.

I was really lazy in my first hour with the game. If I didn't see it, I assumed it didn't exist. Then I found the tactics settings. I put the whole thing on autopilot. Ha. I'll get into it though. It's just taking me a while right now.

Well, at least keep an eye on your healer's MP. After a certain point, healing potions are kind of worthless and you won't want your healers to run out of MP..

Talking of potions and MP is making me want to go play it. Good work.

Mwahahahaha! My evil plan suceeded!

Oh you got Dragon Quest! Great. That's a wonderful, wonderful game. I have to finish it, but I got distracted by Red Dead.

I'm distracted by Forza Horizon's DLC already.

Still playing DQ XI after 170 hours. The post game is an extension of the story rather than some tacked on new game + and there's a ton to do, plus no handholding so unless you explore you could very well miss out on some cool stuff.

I'm deciding to not talk to every darn character in a town this time. I know I'll miss stuff, but it's not natural. I want it to feel like a real adventure.

I almost returned to it today, but I had achievements to finish in Minecraft with my friend Mark.

The important characters have an exclamation point above their heads. Makes life easier

I'll do that, and then talk to someone else just 'cause I'm interested. The old, talk to everyone three times, strategy is just too taxing for me right now.

You don't have to do that in this one. Unless they have a pink exclamation point over their heads, they pretty much just say the same thing over and over again no matter how many times you talk to them.

Well, that's good. I'm a little too overwelmed with choices right now. I want to simplify things.
