Looking ahead, but not too far, just the next month. I got a few I'd like to play.
Earth Defense Force Iron Rain. This will be a download on PS4 on April 11th. It's finally looking more sharp than 2025, 4.1 and 5. It's a little weird it's out so soon after EDF 5 though. EDF 5 just went on sale for $35 on PSN a week ago. I almost bought it, but my price is $20. I'll wait. I'll probably have to wait on Iron Rain as well. No physical release and no chance to rent it, I believe.
Anno 1800 on PC, April 16th. I've always wanted to play this series. They did a version of Anno 1404 for Wii called Dawn of Discovery. I played that, and it was great but probably much simplified from the PC version. Still, it suggested I would love the series.
You build cities and have real-time strategy battles - lots of resource management stuff. It reminds me of Warcraft II back in the day with more emphasis on the building and resource management. I like the historical stuff too even though they do tend to gloss over the uglier parts of these times.
I will probably not get to play it though because my PC won't handle it. I have a keyboard hooked up to my XBO, and it works great. Just add keyboard support, and it could run on XBO. I want.
Konami Arcade Classics. This is coming with their 50th anniversary including 8 games: Haunted Castle, Typhoon (A.Jax), Nemesis (Gradius), Vulcan Venture (Gradius II), Lifeforce (Salamander), Thunder Cross, Scramble and Twinbee. I'm excited for Twinbee. I love that series. April 18th is the release date for download on all systems.
I'm excited for these Konami collections, especially the Castlevania ones.
I saw the first four on a video: Castlevania (NES), Dracula's Curse (NES), Belmont's Revenge (GB), and Super Castlevania IV (SNES). Sometime this summer I heard.
I got a press release for the EDF game but I probably won't review it. Too many other games to play right now.
The Konami collections look neat. Wish they had physical releases. And why no Gyruss? I'll have to see if I have a PR contact for Konami so I can try to review it.
Right now I'm playing Yoshi's Crafted World. It's very fun, but I think I liked Yoshi's Woolly World a little more.
Gyruss, yes! I rediscovered that game on Xbox's old Game Room app on 360. Really like that game.
I definitely want to play Anno 1800. Great concept for a game.
Bring on Google's Stadia or whatever Steam and GOG might do along the same lines of a streaming service. I need to play on old hardware.
Anno 1800 sounds like a fun game, and I do love city building games.
Yea, I'm looking forward to the day I can play it on a streaming service like Stadia where my old laptop's specs don't make any difference.
