The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap was released for the Gameboy advanced in 2005. It's an overhead, 2D adventure, unlike Link's 3D quests, and ties in with the Four Swords games. The "gimmick" to this one is a magical, talking cap that shrinks Link down to the size of an insect, so he can explore a magnified world. It was Gamespot's 2005 "Gameboy Advance Game of the Year."
I never had a Gameboy Advance. I just wasn't so into video games at that time, though I played some. My passion was diminished for other interests and stresses. I was living in New York when this came out, so I never even heard of it until later, and I didn't play it until it was released as part of Nintendo's "Ambassador" program of GBA games for early adopters of the 3DS.
I didn't get very far, because I have a short attention span, but like the rest of the games released as part of the Ambassador program, this one is very good, and it's a shame it's not on the Switch. The idea of shrinking Link to an insect's size is a great idea, and I would be surprised if Nintendo never did it again. It suits the Zelda series perfectly. I wish I had played more of this game.
I liked Minish Cap, but it's really short. With only like, five dungeons, i think I beat it in a weekend. I like how it tells the orgin of the Four Sword, though.
Did you know that Capcom made Minish Cap, along with some other handheld Zelda titles like Oracle of Ages and Seasons?
I didn't know that. I didn't play the Oracle games either. I wish they were all on Switch.
When Minish Cap came out, I had just gotten a DS, and there was a huge rush of good games on the PS2 and the GameCube. Nintendo didn't promote Minish Cap much, so I skipped over it. The first time I played it was on the Wii U. It would be nice if Nintendo brought it over to the Switch.
yeah, this game definitely flew under the radar. I love the concept though.

I'm not a big Zelda fan but I would give this game a try, I mean how can you go wrong when you have a talking hat and it shrinks you. I agree that games like this as well as other older properties aren't on the Switch as a package deal or at least part of the online service.
