I played a hefty amount today with some good results. Then I got resupplied with OG Xbox games from my friend and from a few online orders which appeared today.

First I played some Desperados III. It's a real-time strategy game like Wasteland. Top-down view. In the first few minutes, I had to crouch and sneak around. Umm. . . not my thing. I was out. I got my rewards points anyway. Good looking game though and probably very good overall if you like that sort of thing.

Unlocked another zone in Farm Together. I went back to my previous farm and forged ahead. I'm trying not to overthink it too much. It makes me sort of crazy after a while.

I finished all I wanted to do in Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. I ran through the last few chapters in Return of the Jedi on free play trying to find everything and see everything. I got close at the end there but am only at 66% completion. From here on out, it's a grind and possibly a lot of viewing walkthroughs and I'm not up for that. So I'm moving on to the next Lego game on my list, Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Aventures. I've played it before but not all the way, I don't think. I'll play as much as I can stand and then move on to the next one.

I finished the big boss in Dragon Quest XI. I got a credit scroll that took me to the title screen, but by watching my friend play, I knew it wasn't really the end. So I reloaded my save and sure enough, there is more. I mainly tried to mop up any side quests I hadn't finished and then I'll take all my party members back to their respective homes for additional cut scenes. I could say what my friend finished today as well, but it'd be spoilers. I'll just say that after 180 hours he's still doing stuff.

A while ago I had dumped a lot of my OG Xbox games at my friend's house. I had forgotten about them but he let me take them back. This adds about 24 more games to my collection. Then I got three more in the mail with 1 or 2 more coming on Monday. I guess I'll have about 50 total starting next week. I guess I'll list the ones I just added to my original 22 here:

Nightcaster
Airforce Delta Storm
World War II Combat: Road to Berlin
Ultimate Spider-Man
Mechassault
Mechassault 2: Lone Wolf
The Thing
Lord of the Rings: Third Age
Legacy of Kain: Defiance
Metal Slug 4, 5
Oddworld Stranger's Wrath
Crimson Skies
XIII
Spy Hunter
Voodoo Vince
Yager
Genma Onimusha
Ninja Gaiden Black
Otogi 2
Psychonauts
GTA: Vice City
Deus Ex: Invisible War
Blood Omen 2
Arx Fatalis
Crimson Sea
Commandos Strike Force
Dead to Rights
Demon Stone
KOTOR 2
Marvel Ultimate Alliance

I started Halo: Combat Evolved the other day but I'll save that for its own post.

I finished the main story in DQ. But I'm losing momentum in the post-game stuff. Spent tonight playing Tales of Vesperia instead.

Also a great game. ????

I dusted off Shining Resonance Refrain aftet a year, I got stuck on a boss and put it down. Boss fights in that game are brutal.

I finished the main story too. It was funny because my friend finished the secondary story and got a credit scroll; I finished the main story and got a credit scroll. What game has two credit scrolls? Dragon Quest.

Some of those on your Xbox list I played on the PS2.  My brother Jeff loves the Spy Hunter games, and Crimson Skies was kind of interesting.  But the best one on your list is Psychonauts.  If you haven't played it before, I hope you get to now.  It was my GOTY back in 2005.

I've played Psychonauts before but never finished it. Something about a meat carnival got me stuck? In looking at the Xbox list on wiki, there are a lot of games I played the heck out of that I don't have and are not on that list. I think I'll limit my collection to 50 games and make a 50 best list based on what I've played before. Right now I'm choosing games almost at random because I want to try new things.

The Meat Circus is actually the last level, so you got pretty far.  The Meat Circus is hard because the rest of the game doesn't require much precision platforming.  In fact, I'd say most of Psychonauts is a cleverly disguised point and click adventure game.  But that Meat Circus level does a 180 and it's all platforming and really hard because of that.  Funky camera angles don't help either.

I will play it again.

I THINK that when they re-released Psychonauts as a downloadable game for modern consoles, they tweaked the difficulty of the Meat Circus level so it's not as frustrating.

Oh, interesting. I have the original Xbox disc still and I think I have the digital version too. It'd be a neat comparison.

Wasteland is a turm based RPG, my guy

Yeah, at work today I was thinking I probably got that wrong. It also has an isometric perspective; top-down might be different.

Dragon Quest Xi is the game that keeps on giving.

Yes, it does. Do you think I should play it a second time on PS4? I still have it.

Man, that list of OG Xbox games has some really big names and some really obscure stuff. Nice mix.

I always get bored with the LEGO games.

It's like a combination of games I couldn't part with and ones that were the dregs of my previous collections.

I guess, as an adult, you should get bored with them. I apparently have the mind of an 8-year-old.
