I am totally stuck on this game even forgoing my usual rewards points quests to play it. Serious progress was made as detailed below but only a little bit because I'm listening to/vinyl ripping Uriah Heep and can't be bothered.
I finished Dark Void today and then jumped back in to collect the collectibles. When you beat the game the collectibles show up on your radar. How could I resist that, plus the game is fun. Going for collectibles is my usual procedure when I like a game and get to the end of it. I'm also going after achievements. I got quite a few but certainly I will not get them all. I believe the survival missions are on a piece of DLC that is no longer available and there are several achievements associated with that. I don't mind though. I'll get as many as I can on this second playthrough and then I'll move on.
One of the best things in the game is being able to run on the ground shooting robots in third-person and then using my jetpack to shoot straight up into the sky, hijack a UFO, and dogfight all the other UFOs. Frickin' great!
Was this a 360 game too?
Yes, out in 2010 I believe. It borrows heavily from Gears of War, Uncharted and Crimson Skies I now realize.
Like I said earlier, I only know about Dark Void Zero, a DSiWare game that was used to promote the main title. It looked, sounded, and played like a NES game, which wasn't as commonplace back then. Capcom even made some joke mock videos that this was a long lost PlayChoice 10 game, since it used both screens. But I didn't buy that because there was never any dedicated PlayChoice 10 games, they were all NES games and the second screen was just used for menus and instructions. Anyway, Dark Void Zero really feels like a Capcom NES game. It's really hard, too. I couldn't get past the second level. Granted, there are only three levels but they are huge. If this were a NES game, I definitely would've at least rented it back in the day. I actually have better memories playing Capcom NES gamse than Nintendo made ones.
I think its difficulty is why I didn't play it much either. I'm pretty sure I bought it though but it's not on my DS XL. I'm thinking it might have been on my 3DS. I really want my 3DS back and will get one again someday. I'm sure my purchase history is saved.
I wonder if DVZ would fit on a NES cart? Maybe someone could homebrew that. It's be fun to have an actual NES cart of DVZ.
