I’ve got another batch of GamerDad reviews I’ve recently written, including a trio of amiibo figures! Please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it. OK let’s begin!
Kirby Air Riders Chef Kawasaki and Hop Star amiibo
Starting with the amiibo figures, first is Chef Kawasaki on Pop Star from Kirby Air Riders.
Next is the Mineru’s Construct amiibo from Tears of the Kingdom.
And finally are a couple of Resident Evil amiibo.
For every successful video game mascot like Mario or Sonic, there are tons more that have come and gone. Probably one of the more famous of these mascots is Bubsy the Bobcat. When his first game came out in the 16-bit era, it was touted as being the next big thing to Sonic. But after a couple of mediocre games later, plus an entry into 3D that was notoriously bad, Bubsy kind of faded from existence. Me personally, I didn’t think Bubsy’s first game was that bad, but I feel like it was only good for a rental, not something I’d buy. I never played the other games. But a few years ago, they brought back Bubsy in a 2D platformer that felt more like they made it for people to stream and watch rather than play. But would anyone be brave enough to make a follow-up to the famously bad 3D Bubsy game? Well now they have with Bubsy 4D, a new 3D platformer starring you know who. Bubsy’s antagonists, the Woolies, are back, but they’re just abducting sheep this time. But when the sheep come back as robots and steal Bubsy’s golden fleece yarn balls, it’s up to him and his friends to go on an intergalactic adventure to stop them!
Marsupilami 2: Salsa Palombia (Switch)
Marsupilami is a European comic book character who is a fictional animal with leopard-like spots and a super long tail. He and his friends live in the jungles of South America but remains relatively obscure in the US. Die-hard Disney Afternoon fans like myself may remember some bumpers involving Marsupilami and he even got some shorts on Disney’s Raw Toonage 90s Saturday morning cartoon. He’s also been in a few video games and I reviewed one about five years ago. And here’s the sequel to that. Some ghostly skeletons are using a magic boom box to hypnotize all the animals in the jungle, and now it’s up to Marsupilami and his long tailed friends to stop them! Marsupilami 2: Salsa Palombia is a 2D platformer that plays very much like Donkey Kong Country.
Sizeable is a puzzle game where you are presented with a diorama in an isometric view. You can change the sizes of some of the things in the diorama that’ll reveal hidden secrets on the field or affect other objects.
When you were a kid, did you ever try and swing as high as you can on a swingset, and then fling your shoe off to see how high it would go? I never did that, but one time my best friend tried to jump off a swingset as he was swinging and got some nasty grass stains on his knees! Anyway, since they’ll make a game out of anything nowadays, here’s Shoe it All! It’s a game where you swing on a swingset and then press a button to throw a shoe off your foot at the right time to hit targets and cause mischief.
I’ve been to a few beaches in my lifetime but very few of them had boardwalks. Which is a shame because from what I’ve seen, there are many cool ones out there with arcades and other neat stuff. Well if you’ve ever wanted to build your own boardwalk beach attractions, now you can with Boardwalk Builders. It’s a simulation game with a retro style.
Somebody out there must like these Super Woden racing games, as this is the third one I’ve reviewed. This top down racer is more of a rally race, meaning that instead of laps, you go from point A to point B on a track just once.
And that’s all for now! Thanks for reading my reviews and posting ‘likes’ and comments on them. I do appreciate it. Later! --Cary
I like the vehicles that come with some of those recent amiibos.
Super Woden Rally Edge looks interesting.
There are two more Kirby Air Riders amiibo coming in November and they'll be riding the two Legendary Rides! Dragoon and Hydra! Most people know them from Smash Bros., though.
Aw man, Super Woden Rally Edge is the least interesting game on this list. At least to me anyway. That's why I put it on the bottom!
If Marsupilami is like DKC, I might be interested and I Boardwalk Empire is an interesting concept but I'm not all that keen on the graphics.
The Marsupilami game is pretty good, and not as hard as DKC.
Well, I'm glad about that. I could never get past about 50% of DKC and even less in the two sequels.
Those Air Rider amiibo look so goooood!
The title "Super Woden Rally Edge" sounds like they were just throwing words together lol
I don't even know what "Woden" means!
