I'm going to RetroCon here in Oaks, PA with MK this weekend. Not sure what I'll find there, but it's always interesting. We've been going to it for a few years now. Lots of old TV actors, voice actors, memorabilia, cosplayers, and games and stuff you can buy. I'll link a video below. But first, what I played this week on PS3.
Borderlands 2 - I spent most of my mid-weekend in this game. I focused on the main story line with a Commando (turret dropping) character, only doing side missions when the main mission read "tough" difficulty. I almost beat it but got clogged up fighting Jack's Bunker (Where Angel's Fear to Tread mission). No matter how many levels I buffed before replaying, that constructor bot in the Bunker still got me with blindside heat seeking missiles. Very, very annoying. Very fun play though. My favorite thing was setting Goliaths loose and watching them fight their own, leveling at each kill.
MLB The Show 10 and 11 - These reinforced my dislike of sports sims. They play well, but always have a bit of a learning curve. I don't even follow sports right now. I like a cartoony, arcadey, silly style game that reminds me of little league.
God of War Collection - Just no. I wasn't in the mood to replay God of War 1-2 on PS3 right now. I learned that on this GoW Saga collection disc I was going to play these on, the two PSP games (GoW Origins Collection) aren't even on the disc! Since I didn't buy this copy new, I'll have to buy them digitally when I get to them - or will I?
Killzone 2 - Well, I got much farther than ever before in this. It's a fine FPS but something about the controls feels a little off to me. Maybe it's just getting used to the PS3 controller, but I had some trouble getting accurate shots off. There's a fair amount of realistic recoil and environmental shaking to throw you off. A visually stunning game that makes me think of Gears of War a bit with lots of bro shouting, shinny metal, and explosions. I did enjoy the way the environment can be broken by explosive ordinance. At one point I just shot out window panes to see if I could do it. I could. However, I kept thinking of Guerrilla Games' Horizon series that I wanted to play again more.
I'm going to play Demon's Souls next. Probably after RetroCon on Saturday. Speaking of which.
This was last year's show in brief (They will have the Knight Rider truck this time but, don't tell anyone, I never really watched the TV show).
Been a long time since I've watched Knight Rider. Cool theme song. I dunno if I could stomach watching it now haha, well I could but I don't think it's worth my time.
I wish they had more big video game shows where I live. You think they would, but unless I don't know about them, there's not that many worth going to.
