OK students, class is back in session! Your assignment today is to read as many GamerDad reviews I’ve recently written and maybe post a ‘like’ or comment or two. You’ll get an A+ if you do. OK, let’s begin!
Reader Review: Educational Family Games (PC)
I’m not a PC gamer and haven’t been for a while, mainly because I can’t afford a gaming PC. But when I got a Steam key for Educational Family Games, I didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to review it as it fits the audience of this site nicely. So I got my brother Jeff to review it! So here is his review of Educational Family Games.
Starter Pokemon Goldfish Crackers
Earlier this year I wrote about Pokémon Goldfish crackers. Well now they have more, this time featuring the famous three starter Pokémon from the original game! So let’s take a look at them!
Got some new amiibo based on the recently released Splatoon Raiders game. There’s Shiver, Frye, and Big Man. They’ve had amiibo based on these three before for Splatoon 3, but here they are in their Raiders getup. So let’s take a look at them!
Hold onto your hats, folks, the story for this game gets pretty weird! One day a failed experiment in a laboratory causes all humans on Earth to disappear. It also causes animals to start talking and inanimate objects to come to life. And then evil shadow creatures start attacking! Luckily a stuffed bunny named Nora has just created a living amoeba-like being that can fight these shadow creatures. She names it Teeto and together they embark on a 3D platforming adventure. This game reminds me of the many 3D platformers found on the N64 or maybe the early years of the GameCube and PS2 when these kinds of games were at their prime.
Blast’N Bounty is a bullet hell 2D vertically scrolling shooter with a neat gameplay gimmick. You can choose the stage you want to tackle, and when you beat the boss, you can choose a different subweapon to take into the next level, like a homing shot or spread bullets. Kind of reminds me of Mega Man in a way.
A member of a rock band turns evil and infects all the other players with viruses so he can take over the world. It’s up to Bimmy and a talking octopus to shrink down and fight the viruses to save the day. Viral Reload EX is an arcade 16 bit styled 2D vertically scrolling shooter with an ‘inside the body’ theme.
Whether you played it on old game consoles or early cell phones, most people are familiar with the simple game Snake or any of its variants. But what if you added enemies and bullet hell shooter elements to the concept? Well you’d get Mechaconda. The nefarious Dr. Evil has taken over four planets and it’s up to you and your mechanical snake to stop him.
Help little girl Lia wake up from nightmares involving avoiding sawblades in this 2D precision platformer.
And that’s all for now! Thanks for reading my reviews and posting ‘likes’ and comments on them! Your homework for tonight is to read The Epic of Gilgamesh and write a paper on its similarities and differences to The Tower of Druaga! Later! --Cary
I'll take a Bulbasaur Goldfish, and a Big Man amiibo.
I read some of the Gilgamesh epic recently and had forgotten its use in Tower of Druaga, a game I could never quite understand. I'll have to play it again.
The Tower of Druaga has very little to do with Epic of Gilgamesh. I just think it's interesting they took inspiration from that. Did you know that there was a Druaga anime a while back? It has next to nothing to do with the game, though.
Well, I still want to like it and try it again.
I like the legacy the game left behind. It's interesting how such an influential game was never heard of during the time in the US!
I don't think I ever saw one in the arcades, but maybe.
I doubt it, seeing as it was Japan only. I had never even heard of it until its first release in the US on the Namco Museum vol. 3 collection.
Oh, neat. Japan only originally. I played it first in a collection and didn't quite get it the first time. I'll have to try again.
It's very obtuse and meant to be that way so arcade goers could share tips and strategies.
Ah. Ok.
Blast'n Bounty seems cool, I might have to add that to my Steam Wishlist.
It's no Cave shooter, but it's one of the better bullet hells I've played in a while.
