Started PS3 gaming this week. Booting up worked fine, faster than even X360. Got youtube running on it too, also with less issues than 360. The PSN store lost its search option but you can still buy things if you add funds to your account from another device (I'm using the phone app). Also Device Sign In just popped up yesterday and had me apply another password to my account. I guess it's Sony's way of forcing two factor identification and to ensure a robust password. Kind of annoying but I got it to work. There's some good stuff in the store I want, so I'll be testing digital downloads soon. Anyway, here's what I played this week:

Uncharted 2 - I ran through the whole game looking for as many collectibles as possible for Trophies. I thought I'd easily get half of the hundred in the game but I didn't even get to 40, and I was hunting everywhere in every scene. They are not well marked. They are supposed to shine a bit when you look at them but often not at all until you are right on top of them. Oh well. I loved replaying it though. Got me some other Trophies along the way.

Little Big Planet - A very charming platformer I just can't stick with for long. I don't like the way Sack Boy slides around. Stephen Fry's narration and ingenious design aren't enough when I have issues with basic mechanics. Not saying it's bad, just that it annoys me.

Last of Us - Such an amazingly produced game! It looks amazing, has great characters and story, rock solid gameplay. It's just leans heavily on stealth which is not my thing. Also, the grim and desperate world is oppressive to me. I don't enjoy facing the near death situations over and over. I guess I'm not a horror fan much. I can't praise it enough for it's overall polish though - a real work of art.

God of War 3 - I played a lot of it but not all because I got hung up on a puzzle involving rotating platforms I couldn't figure out. I used to think it was less as good as the first two, but now I believe it's equally as great. I noticed Hephaestus was voiced by Rip Torn. I had to kill him anyway. Ha ha.

Uncharted 3 - So, I've played this before but this time I got hung up as young Drake escaping the cops. I got up to the roof and then kept failing not knowing which direction to go once up there. I've done this before, but I got real annoyed there was no indication as to where to go. I kept failing it 'til I just didn't want to do it anymore. I'll return to it on PS4 I have no doubt and blast right through it, wondering what I was thinking.

ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection - These look so wonderful. Real works of art on the screen. But in ICO, I couldn't get the ghost girl out of the big room once I'd freed her from the cage and the dark shadows. Just no clue at all. Then I rode a horse around a lot in Shadow of the Colossus before figuring out how to navigate, then getting stomped on by the first Colossus. The controls are awkward at best. I had some trouble getting used to them.

Little Big Planet 2 - I didn't even start it because the game (a special edition) wanted to download so many files. It was taking way too long and I've decided I'd probably not last long in it anyway. The gameplay is just not for me.

Bioshock - I have a few crossover games on PS3 I wanted to get Trophies in. I continued from my last save half way through the game and finished it, unlocking quite a few new Trophies along the way. A great game, but the story is more disturbing the more I play it.

Purchases

Kramer Striker, Guitar Hero guitar (Goodwill, $5) - This was a wireless model made for PS2 but will work on PS3. But, I didn't realize I needed a receiver/dongle adapter to get it to work. I'm currently hunting one down.

Xbox 360 wired controller (Goodwill, $5) - I grab these whenever I see one. This one looks very new and barely used. I have to double check it's for 360 and not Xone. I love wired. No batteries!

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (PS3, Just Press Play, $12) - I'm thrilled I'll be playing this again for Trophies on PS3. I have the first one too on PS3.

Currently playing Borderlands 2 on PS3.

I never got into the Little Big Planet games, but my brother Jeff sure did! It was fun watching him play and make things.

I also watched him play BioShock! That's a scary game!

The Sonic Transformed racing game is also pretty good.

Right now I'm playing a demo for Final Fantasy Resonance. Man, Square-Enix is hitting it out of the park this yea with games that interest me.

I had fun putting stickers on everything in LBP.

Uncharted 3 was the pack-in game with my PS3 and I still haven't played it. I did play the first two, though, and particularly enjoyed the second one.

U3 is definitely good, even looks a tad better than U2, if that's possible. I just had no patience this time. There is a fair amount of the dreaded stealth in it.
