Gamewise, April was a productive month. Take a look!
Games Beaten
-Mega Man Powered Up (PSP)
This is one of the first games I got when I bought a PSP in late 2011 but I got stuck at the Yellow Devil (first Wiley stage) and never finished it. But a little determination and bullheadedness saw me through to the end in April. This game has so much content! According to my save file, I've completed only 5%. That's because you can unlock the robot masters as playable characters in addition to three difficulty levels. Oh, and not counted in that percentage are the ten challenge levels for each character. I think I've completed maybe a fifth of those. This game could keep you busy for a long long time.
Powered Up, which itself is more of a reimagining, also includes a complete remake of the original Mega Man with PU's assets. It's a much less forgiving game but I managed to fight my way through and best Wiley again. So technically it counts as two games beaten
-BioShock Infinite (360)
This game just blew my socks off. The world is incredibly detailed, the combat is fun and offers lots of variety, and the story is great. I'm sure it will drop in price before long because of the number of copies floating around, but the sooner you can play this the better, I say.
-Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)
When I got too frustrated with Demon's Souls to continue with it, I popped in Uncharted 2, a game I've been meaning to play for a long time. And it did not disappoint! The graphics grabbed me right away. This is probably the best-looking game I've ever seen, and it came out in 2009! I'm usually not a stickler for such things but U2 is a graphical powerhouse. Plus the story and characters are good and the gameplay is a lot of fun. It's just an all-around great game and I'm glad I finally played.
-Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS)
Finally! I've been playing this game for over a year. And by "playing" I mean "mostly not playing." The main probelm with the game is that the ground combat is physically awkward to control. It was much easier once I got a 3DS XL and that's one of the main reasons I was able to finally finish it. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun game and a definite showcase for the 3DS hardware. Like Mega Man Powered Up, it has a ton of content. Hundreds of challenges for the campaign levels, like beating a level within an allotted time or with a specific weapon, would keep completionists busy for months and there's also online multiplayer. I wish I could spend more time with it but really, I've spent enough already and want to get on to other things.
Games Bought
The shortest list so far this year!
-Demon's Souls (PS3; PS+)
Aw, yes...
-HarmoKnight (3DS)
I won this from PixlBit's blog contest
Now Playing
-Rocket Knight (PSN)
I loved the SNES game Sparkster (sorry, Genesis fans, I haven't played the other games in this series) and so I've been excited to try this downloadable follow up. It's fun, certainly, and I love zooming around with that jetpack again, but it's missing an intangible something that made the old game so good. I'm disappointed with the music though. The old music was sooo catchy but this is just generic orchestral stuff
-HarmoKnight (3DS)
This is a really cool rhythm game that plays like a platformer. I'm through the second world and really liking it. Game Freak needs to make non-Pokemon games more often.
-LocoRoco 2 (PSP)
Picked this up again after more than a year of it just sitting by. I like it but just got distracted away from it before. It's a very weird Japanese game, and that's pretty awesome.
-Guild Wars 2 (Mac)
We didn't play much in April but that's okay. I think I'm up to level 28 or so.
And that was April! So what have you guys been playing?
Wow alot of games lol!!
In the month of april
Max payne 3..Huge fan of max payne..So i was happy to see a third one..And I love it!! Best out of the series
Resident evil 6- Gave it a shot..Since there was a lot of negative reviews. But i enjoyed it..Now i would have been mad to pay 60 dollars for it, but i payed 20 bucks
And the end of april..I decided to play a game that been in my backlog for such a long time..I had no more recent games to play..So i started chrono trigger...So far I am loving this old school rpg!!
I've never played any of the Max Payne games but we do have the third one. My wife got it for $10...quite the deal! I'll play it sometime.
Did you have anyone to play RE6 with? That's the only way I'd want to play that.
I love Chrono Trigger! What a great game. Are you playing it on the DS?
Ah..So i am not sure if you enjoy will max payne because i think that playing the first 2 games it gives max the story on why he is,
I have followed the max payne games so i understand the character well i think!
But you may enjoy the action game!! Without back story lol
Resident evil no i did not have anybody to play with. I beat every campaign thou.
No I am playing it on the ps1. I happen to have the collection and got it for 10 bucks..So the way i think of it is..I am playing chrono for 5 bucks!
So you have to deal with load times in Chrono Trigger since it's on the PS1. Kind of stinks but hey, for $5 I suppose that's a decent trade off lol
Well i heard about people complain about that so i played like that for a couple of hours..Then decided to turn on the ps2 option..Load disc faster..And that improves it!! Instead of like 3 sec to get into the menu it takes more like 1sec!!! Hah!!
Wow I am always impressed when people can beat so many games in a month...I feel so slow haha. I just completed Hotel Dusk and working my way through Suikoden 2. I am now deciding on another hand held game to play as my second game but unsure as of yet.
Well, Uncharted 2 is the only game I actually played in its entirety in April. But I'm sure glad to have Powered Up and Kid Icarus off my back! I hate having unfinished games loom over me to for long periods of time.
I envy your copy of Suikoden 2. I've heard so many good things about it.
It's a great game. I waited about 10 years to get it and I was SO lucky to get at a great price too. Keep an eye on ebay! Some people sell a really decent complete copy for cheap.
Only one new game? Good job Philip! I caved the other day and bought Resistance 3 even though my backlog is insane. Progress is being made at least. That was the first game I bought in months. The first Mega Man is the only one of the classic series I don't really care for. Powered Up sounds awesome though!
I have the first two Resistance games but haven't played them yet. I've managed to hold off on getting Resistance 3 by telling myself that I have to play the others first lol. You should get Powered Up. It's cheap and I'm sure you'd like it.
Wow, you've been busy this month!
I too beat Bioshock this month as well, and I also managed to finish off Tomb Raider and Skyrim. That's about it on my completed list though
It was a good month for gaming
Sounds like you didn't do too bad either. I bet beating Skyrim has been a long time coming lol
Wow, that's a lot of games for one month! I'm playing one game right now: Boom Blox for Wii. It's fun, and I'll be sure to post a review of it once I finish. Believe me, I've got a bunch of games that I want to beat though.
Well, Uncharted 2 is the only one I played all the way through in the month of April. But yeah, it was a good month lol. I try to have one console game and one handheld game going at a time. Even having LocoRoco 2 and HarmoKnight going right now is more than I'd like, though that's not too bad. I'm going to try to get some shorter games done now, I think, like Rocket Knight. It's too bad you don't have a system that can play that. You'd like it.
I finished the last two levels of Halo 4, MGS2 and Bioshock Infinite.
Currently playing through the original Bioshock. Hopefully Bioshock 2 after that and maybe MGS3. I feel rather boring, because I plan on replaying games that I have beaten a while ago.
Hopefully I will get Metro: Last Light this month and possibly Fuse.
I can't imagine doing a bunch of replay games in a row. I think I'd grow restless lol. Was that your first time through Halo 4? I really liked that one.
At this moment, I find all of my "old" games to be the most appealing. Not sure why, I would like to get my ps2 up to WI from AZ so that I can play kingdom hearts again.
It was the first time I finished Halo 4. I have gotten about halfway through the game a second time on heroic with random skulls, for challenges.
I really want to play Guild Wars but don't really have anyone to play with. Is it fun to begin by yourself and stuff? Is there a neat story? I'm really curious about it.
I played Uncharted 1 but not 2 yet. I should really pull the trigger and finally buy it.
Guild Wars 2 is a lot of fun. The beginning would be easy to do by yourself and the story is interesting. You'd want someone to play with after a while though. I'd play with you if available but it's hard to commit to anything because of my schedule. Plus I'm on the East Coast so we're, what, 3 hours apart?
I liked Uncharted 1 but its sequel takes everything to the next level. You should definitely get it.
cool i'll let u know if i pick it up.
The Loco Roco games and Mega Man Powered Up are some of my top favorite PSP games.
I do not like Kid Icarus: Uprising at all.
Harmoknight just sounds like exactly the type of game I'd enjoy playing, but I don't have a 3DS, so oh well. Congratulations on winning it!
Thanks! I hope you get a chance to play it someday.
Not really playing anything at all. Maybe I should continue with Mega Man Starforce this weekend.
Powered Up now sounds very interesting. I like the idea of playing with the other robot masters.
Powered Up is definitely worth owning. I've haven't played the main game as any of the robot masters yet but I'll come back to it sometime. Mega Man is easy to pick back up
Quick question: Did your copy of Bioshock Infinite come with a copy of the original Bioshock game? And if so was it on the disc or a HD install?
No, it was just Infinite. Normally I'd be upset if I'd missed out on a giveaway like that but I do already a copy of the original.
Like adding more wood to the fire,I just add more games to my currently playing roster. I just started on Nier and Bayonetta last week. Finished both Mafia 2 and Tomb Raider. Also started on the XBOX game Syberia as well. It's nice to have so many good games to finish while we wait for the next gen consoles to arrive this holiday.
There's definitely plenty to keep us busy. Personally, I like it when there are droughts of new games because it gives me a chance to catch up on all I've missed lol. Bayonetta is one that I've been wanting to get for a long time and it's pretty cheap now so maybe I will. On a similar note I'm thinking of starting Vanquish soon. It's been downloading all night off PSN (over 11 gigs but it was free thanks to PS+).
