Greetings, everyone! I’m Dan, aka PixlBit’s newest staff writer (or simply "the new guy"). I’d like to add my welcome to the new members and introduce myself as well, especially because I neglected to after I joined in October.

I’m a journalist by trade and a lifelong gamer, so PixlBit is a great outlet for me to combine my professional and personal interests while contributing to a strong community. I mostly enjoy writing editorial, feature, and review pieces. In fact, I'm sometimes guilty of spending more time analyzing, reading about, and writing about games than actually playing them.

I was a kid of the Super Nintendo era. Like others my age, Super Mario World was my "gateway drug." Gaming would become, and still is, my primary hobby. My profile best describes my gaming interests, but in summary I enjoy a variety of genres.

I largely withdrew from gaming for several years while I played Final Fantasy XI (I also remember something about earning a degree). Being randomly assigned to one of 32 servers, each with thousands of players, would guide me to a chance encounter with the woman of my dreams who is now my wife. (Perhaps that's a blog of its own for another time.)

Returning to present day, I finished Resident Evil 6 last night. I'll be writing PixlBit's (belated) review shortly. Now I'll be focusing on Dead Space 3.

Thanks for reading, and welcome! I couldn't be happier you're here.
