I was pretty excited to play Donkey Kong and to write up... something about the game again today. I enjoyed playing a couple of games before dinner even though I didn't do too well (stuck in the 50,000s), and figured I'd just think of something to write later. Then I got sort of pissed off at Halo: Spartan Assault and lost my interest in doing anything notable. Also, I decided I should play a little Final Fantasy XIII-2 before I forget what I was doing in that. Even though I'm just really getting into the meat of the game, I like it a lot so far. At this rate, I'll be ready to dive into Lightning Returns right as it tumbles into the bargain bin.

We have a pretty amazing hobby that can encompass a cinematic action-oriented fiddly-menu role playing game, a top-down super space marine shooter, and a game where a mustachioed man tries to beat up a gorilla. I wouldn't want it any other way.

So, this is definitely a cop-out/phoned-in entry just to keep up with my commitment. This won't become the standard, I promise. Anyway, look at my lame scores and send me positive Kongwaves through the ether for tomorrow, please.

I'm still waiting for a 1st person Donkey Kong RPG like KongRim.

Or maybe prequel to DK where you're lousy forman that made so many lousy buildings that fall really easily.

If only Nintendo held game jams, we might see something like this.

I usually play a pretty diverse range of games at any given time. It helps keep things fresh. Right now I'm playing Unreal Tournament 2k4, GTA Vice City, and NES Open Tournament Golf of all things.

Are there still active servers for UT 2K4? I haven't played any UT since 2K3, but sometimes feel like I should...

I have no idea. I have just been playing through the campaign or instant matches against bots. UT 3 might still have servers up though. Undecided

This post actually makes me want to go outside, beat up a gorilla, steal its bananas, and swim in a sewer to get away, all the while selling mushrooms to Little Persons in a medieval setting with dragon-turtles. First, I need a gun and some meat.

Wal-Mart sells both guns and meat. You are one errand away from this happening.

True. I even have a camo hat from Discount Tire.

Yes I play a diverse range of games, too.  I just got finished playing games where you're a lawyer and must defend an orca whale in court, only to follow it up with a game where you're a four inch tall robot who takes pictures of toilet paper.

Did you ever watch the Donkey Kong cartoon on Saturday Supercade?

Posted on February 7, 2014 12:45 PM

I did watch that some. I don't remember it as well as the Pac-Man show, but I know I watched it.

The point of BaD isn't necessarily to write quality blogs, just to post something every day. At least you haven't gotten to the "I'm just going to post a cute pic of a cat" point yet.

And yeah, we have an awesome hobby.

True, but now you've given me a good idea for my next lazy entry. Stay tuned!

Thanks to Steam, i'm expading my gaming horizons that include an silent assasin in a dystopian steampunk city, a humanoid robot exploring a cave and saving rabbit people, a silent test subject solving puzzles with portals and trying to survive from a crazy AI and a blue hedgehog with a fourth installment.

I want to have lame scores like that!

Keep writing whatever is on your mind for BaD. It's fun to see what other folks post.

that's what I like about gaming. One moment I could be stomping around in my 50ft tall mech (mechwarrior) and the next I could be gunning down russian civilians in an airport terminal (COD: MW2.)

I don't think I would've done much better if I was playing FFXIII sequel too.
