Nothing notable to report today, beyond a couple of decent games. I have been thinking about LCD games a lot lately and might very well play some Donkey Kong on the Game & Watch DS collection I have sitting right here. Regardless, I do enjoy a good LCD-style game (even games in that style on a modern system are OK in my book), and I think they don't get a lot of respect. There's probably good reason for this, but I think they can be pretty fun if you are in the right mindset.

The Game & Watch collections on DS (from Club Nintendo) are pretty great, although part 2 feels a little scant on content. The Retro Pocket DSi-Ware title is also a lot of fun, as are the collectible LCD games you can find in Deadlight.

Is there a solid connection between those games and Donkey Kong outside of the actual Donkey Kong Game & Watch handheld? I am not sure, but I went with it. You'll have to excuse me on my 18th entry in February, I'm getting a little Finnegan's Wakey on you. I do have some actual ideas of related things to discuss, but those will probably have to wait until the weekend or later. I'm still pretty busy, tired, blah, blah, and blah. Keep up the good work on your own BaD entries, guys. You're doing great. I'm going to go read a few before turning in.

I think I might have played a couple of those Game and Watch games a long, long time ago. They belonged to a kid who lived up the street from us when we lived in Norway. He had all the cool stuff - his dad was a bigwig in the Norwegian oil industry or something.

when i was a real little kid my dad used to travel to asia on business and he got us the old game and watches.  Each of us four kids had a different one.  I remember playing them quite vividly.

I love the Game & Watch Gallery games.  The Donkey Kong updated one is especially fun. Didn't really play too many of the LCD games as a kid.

I posted in your forum about having played Tiger games in my youth. I had Mega Man 2, Empire Strikes Back and I think I got Batman Forever R-Zone one Christmas ... I didn't like that last one.

I didn't know about Game & Watch until fairly recently.

that's what I thought about LCD games, until I saw this series....

I may never see LCD games the same again....
