American McGee Hinting at Possibility for Alice 3

So here I am again after saying I didn't want blog, blogging again. Though I have a really good reason for this one, and beyond that if I didn't post something about this I'd hate myself forever.

McGee posted an image in his facebook this morning/last night (depending on where ever you live) with these questions:

"Alice Fans,
Questions for you:
1) If we could get the rights from EA, would you play "Alice 3?"
2) If you'd play "Alice 3," would you back it on Kickstarter?
3) If you said "yes" to those two things, make some noise - I'm trying to gauge interest in case I happen to discuss this with EA during GDC in 2 weeks. The more interest there is, the more seriously they'll take the conversation."

The mere possibility of this got me really excited. Madness Returns is my second favorite game this gen, (I have it on 360, and PS3 too). I really loved everything about it, but it's story and atmosphere the most. The game is really underrated and needs more love.

In case you're wondering what Alice: Madness Returns is it's a 3D platformer and sequel to American McGee's Alice. Which is basically a take on the Alice in Wonderland story from a more twisted insane angle. It's about a girl who after losing her family in a house fire goes insane. Wonderland is basically her mental escape from all this and she sets out to fix all the parts her mental instability have ruined.

In Madness Returns she returns to Wonderland seeking answers to what actually happened the night of the fire. It's pretty much like a standard cartoony platformer with more dark and serious themes. Which is why I loved it so much. I grew up on games like this, and it was really nice to see one that "grew up" with me.

So anyways you should all go to McGee's page and like, comment, share, and as he said make some noise. I'd really love to see it get another sequel, and you should too.

On this note a friend of mine on twitter had a couple of extra steam gift codes for Madness Returns which she gave me. If you want one and I dont hate you say something I'll give it to you, maybe.

I played the original waaaaaaaay back in the day - when it first hit - but haven't picked up the sequel after it got more middling feedback.  I'd like to pick it up though - it's certainly a mentally backlogged title.

I can understand the reviews it got. In a genre that usually always puts gameplay over story/atmosphere when a game does the opposite it's kind of odd. It's gameplay definetly isn't perfect by any means but I still really really loved it. You should pick it up if you get the chance.

Ugh what's with all the Facebook campaigns lately. I hope this gets a lot a of support, I don't have a Facebook so there's not much I can do. But I couldn't agree more, Alice Madness Returns deserves a better reputation than it got. I'd love to see the series continue.

Well you could just make a fake account to like things :P That's actually what mine was before people started to add me haha.

This news really makes me happy, Ive been hopeing to see something on a Alice 3. I didnt play the first one till I got Alice: Madness Returns. I loved both, especially Madness Returns.

I really loved Madness Returns. Still need to finish the first one though it really hasn't aged well imo. Still great story and world though.

I bought Madness Returns and for anyone who hasn't it's dirt cheap now so there's no excuse. I especially liked that it came with a download code for the first game so for less than 20 bucks you can see the series from the beginning.

Posted on March 14, 2013 7:40 PM

Is that download code a PC only thing, or is it available on consoles too? I've always been curious about these games. Unfortunatly, my laptop isn't good for much more than writing stuff, so I don't know if it would play on it...

No it's consoles. I bought the PS3 version. I have the PC version but since I never play the PC games I buy this was bonus!

Posted on March 14, 2013 7:58 PM

Well then I'm sold. I've always wanted to check out these games ever since I heard of the first one. At 10 bucks each, even if I don't like them I'll still have done well.

It's not a perfect platformer but the art style and atmosphere are really cool

Posted on March 14, 2013 8:05 PM

A little thing to note. The console versions of Alice 1 can get a little glitchy at times. Nothing gamebreaking but just be sure to manual save a lot.

Posted on March 14, 2013 8:03 PM

I bought it twice no regrets XD

I love strange games Catherine being one of my favorites in a long time, and its funny you posted this blog on Alice cause I was shopping on Amazon today for Alice Madness Returns and was thinking of buying it, but wasnt still 100% sure about it but it does look absolutely insane which is the main reason I want it, and I guessnI should get both for the story but it does look cool and I guess its a pretty good game since gamestop sells it for $30 used and I cant find Alice only on Amazon.

Posted on March 14, 2013 10:12 PM

it's on both games on demand, and PSN for 20 dollars

I dont buy digital games I like physicle games, dont trust digitalLaughing

Posted on March 15, 2013 4:24 PM

if you buy Madness Returns new you'll get the first one with it as DLC. So if you can find it new on Amazon go with that then,

Posted on March 15, 2013 4:58 PM

I think I will get the first and second ones together cheaper that way lolWink

Posted on March 14, 2013 9:23 PM

I forgot this was a game, but I love that twisted concept.

Posted on March 14, 2013 10:13 PM

Now that you remembered you should go play it

Posted on March 14, 2013 9:55 PM

If it's a platformer, then I'll give it a go. I always did wanted to try this one but alot of other games seem to get in the way. I'll try to get it this year on the PS3 since I'm digging the artstyle, plus I'm cutting back on new releases this year cause of my backlog. I'll try to support this on facebook.

Posted on March 14, 2013 10:14 PM

It's $20 on PSN and it comes with the DLC too (some costumes and weapons)

Posted on March 15, 2013 5:06 AM

I have to play this game. I've got the original, but never beat the whole thing, even though I'm a big Alice fan. Seen the movies tons of times and have the annotated collection of books. You should check that out, its a red hardcover and has notes for every page on the side. Seriously one of my favorite stories growing up.

Have you read the Zenoscope comics? They just started an ongoing with the daughter and grandaughter of Alice, simply called Wonderland. Pretty decent writing, even with the big boob drawings getting in the way. Then again, maybe that adds something.

Nope, it doesn't at all. Still a good story though.

Posted on March 15, 2013 4:21 PM

Big boobs never got in the way of anything :P I'll think of checking that stuff out the games were literally my first experience with Alice in Wonderland outside of Disney anyways

Posted on March 20, 2013 5:43 AM

I think you'll love it then, because they are pretty graphic and dark, just like the games.

Also you are addicted to blogging.

m-maybe

Posted on March 15, 2013 6:37 PM

This made my day!  I would not be able to fund on kickstarter but would pre-order a new sequel without hesitation.  I loved Madness returns and desperately want more!!

I'm down for it. I thought Madness Returns was an excellent game, even with it's odd offering of Online Pass where they give you the original game that was never on consoles before then.

Perhaps I should see about investing in the sequel.
