good point @ pokemon. will an amiibo be released for every pokemon? that's a lot! i broke down and bought more amiibos... i'm hooked.
my favorite moment is in RE1. I think it's after defeating the tyrant, and I think it's while playing as Jill. You walk out to find Barry Burton critically wounded. He's ashamed of himself for being a double-crosser, and tells Jill to leave him behind. Then he hands Jill a photo of his wife and kid. Very touching moment for me. It redeemed Berry for me, despite all his cheesy lines.
I also loved A Link Between Worlds. Thought it was a bit easy, though. As for the Zelda timeline, I ignore it and just treat each game as its own story. They're all good, although i had a tough time getting into the Oracle games.
I read that blog. Very good read. I agree with your assessment, especially about the lack of interesting apps, and inclusion of subpar ones. The Wii TV app just plain old sucks. Make sure to check out Mario 3D World. Loved that game. Lots of content. Take care.
Aha, it appears you're already on my friends list! Perhaps a carry over from 3DS, where most of my handful of Wii U friends originated. And yeah, I meant to add on friends list, not Miiverse. Shows hom much tie I'm spent managing friends on there, although I think Miiverse and Friends list are the same? Confusing...
Thank you, Quim. Also, if people want to list their Miiverse name here in a comment, I'll add ya that way. Thanks.
Hey, I just realized that it's you, Pacario, from 1up. Glad to see you. I always enjoyed your blogs. Good to see another familiar face!
I agree that a couple older retro tracks should have been included. I like the Wii and 3DS ones that are there, but they are so new, the don't feel retro at all.
I like the games I played on Wii U, but they are too few and far between. IMO, the biggest mistake Nintendo made with Wii U was calling it Wii U. It's a horrible name, and confusing for casual Nintendo fans. I would prefer Wii 2 or something like that, but Wii U sounds ridiculous to me.
lol. Good to see you posting. Maybe you'll buy a PS4?
The way you describe TW14 reminds me of my experience playing WGT, the free to play online golf simulator, but maybe worse considering TW a full-price retail game. With WGT it was forgiveable due to it's F2P entry fee, but TW? This could end up backfiring, which is a shame, because I like the series. Oh well, looks like I'll be sticking with TW12 a bit longer.
I played through Mutant Mudds on 3DS and loved it. Where there extra levels for Grandma in that version? I just figured her unlocking was an extra option, didn't look for new doors or anything.
I'll admit, pointing out the lack of story in Luigi U seems ridiculous. I guess maybe as a stand alone game not based on NSMB: U it would make sense, but any gamer worth their salt knows Luigi U is a stripped down harder version.
I never signed up at IGN and never will, but I still go there from time to time to read their take on the day's top news. I'm surprised by how much web traffic they receive. Some articles reach over 10,000 comments, which is amazing, yet troubling to me. Oh well, I guess mainstream is as mainstream does.
Admittedly, I played only a handful of retail games on Wii U --NintendoLand, ZombiiU, NSMB: U and Scribblenauts -- but so far what I feel was the best experience I had with the gamepad is with the downloadable Nano Assault Neo. It feels like 2-player LAN multi, but it's not, it's all available through one system and the gamepad.
Another feaure I like, which I discovered when playing NSMB: U, was propping the gamepad in its cradle to view, and then using a Wii remote to control. Sadly, this variation disabled audio on the gamepad as this combination presumed I was using the TV, but I like the idea of using a seperate controller instead of the gamepad input, and using the gamepad solely for viewing. I thought about writing to NIntendo about this. Maybe I will.
I agree. I thought NSMB: U nailed the difficulty. Pervious NSMB's were ineed too easy.
Not right away, if at all
Cool pics. love the classic game cases.
Since the game was borrowed I didn't get a chance to play online, due to the pass. Didn't matter to me, though, I just wanted to play the campaign. I hear online is cool, just didn't want to get invested in it. I am annoyed by the passes, too.
This looks cool, man. I'm diggin' it!
You're right, used strong verbiage in my previous blog, which I chalk up to back to back disappointment in two games I wanted to enjoy. And I think I was having a bad day.
i played all previous GoW's, and IMO Ascension is the weakest entry. Something I forgot to mention in the blog is that the main villains in the game are female. Nothing wrong with that per se, but I felt awkward when time came for the up close gory finishing moves.
Overall, I endorse GoW:A, but with tempered expectations.
I am Error. (seriously, I gotta stop replying via iPod.)
I'm with you about finding answers online. I did look at one strategy for getting past the Trial of Archimedes (didn't help much). Other than that I was able to beat GoW without any help. I'm curious to know which puzzle you're stuck on.
Nice pics. Diggin' the well groomed beard-man-chu
LOL. great observation.
The only gripe I have with the Gamepad is how it disconnects so easily. There are times I'm literally 3 feet away from the console and the Gamepad disconnects. Granted, the console is in a bit of an alcove shelf area, and will perform better once I move it to a more open area, but I would like to have seen a stronger signal between the console and gamepad.
