I was just about to hit send on Beyond Good & Evil, but just remembered I heard something about a sequel actually happening. Woo hoo!

I would say physical copy for sure, if it's only ten bucks difference.

Good choice picking up Yakuza 4. That series is great. I can't wait for the next one (didn't bother with the recent zombie one though I'll admit).

Yeah I really enjoyed this one too. It was really tough though, for me anyway. There was a hell of a lot of swearing on my part during boss battles, ha ha. I think Vanquish was better though, but this was still great enough that I finished it.

This is gonna be so great! I didn't know about the FFX-2 addition until your post, so thanks :]

Weather effects and day/night cycles are some of the most enjoyable parts of games like Fallout 3 and Skyrim. You really get immersed into those worlds when these systems are well implemented.

I went back to this game a few weeks ago after a break of at least a year. I had quit on a bossfight (Xord) and had forgotten much of the battle system, so Xord kicked my ass pretty quick. It was hard to see what was happening so I blamed the low def graphics (no doubt I probably just need to grind a little), but you mentioned they look worse on a HD TV so that probably added to it.

I probably need to start again from the beginning. I'm not that far into it.

Anyway, great post. I wanna go back to XC experience those weather effects!

Somebody on a forum (maybe here?) recently mentioned about FFXIII that they got to the final boss and got killed in three seconds or something, and was so disgusted they walked away and didn't go back. I seem to be almost halfway into the game, so a long way until I find out about that boss, but I wasn't gonna let Brynhildr force me to quit. I wanna get up to the point I've read about where you get dropped in the open world with total freedom all of a sudden. It was from a totalplaystation review I printed out last week... Yeah Sazh gets Haste pretty late, although I did switch over from focussing on his Commando Paradigm to Sentinel in the Crystarium, in order to get more de/buffs, so I probably could have got Haste earlier. And as for Hope getting it faster, the thing with the Brynhildr fight is you've only got access to Sazh and Vanille at that point.

Yeah you're right about autobattle being good for most regular enemies, but still, as you know the further into the game you get, the more complex it gets, even with normal fights. I read some criticism of FFXIII recently, the person basically saying FFXIII is shit because all you do is hit a button to fight - it's boring. That may be true for the first few hours but it's only like that to ease you into what becomes a pretty deep and complex battle system. If all FFXIII was about battle-wise was 'autopilot', I sure as hell wouldn't have had any trouble with Brynhildr.

Anyway, thanks again for your comments. They really helped me out :]

Ha ha! Damn them to hell!

Thanks man. Beating a really tough boss is one of life's great pleasures!

Yeah, much harder. I tried again to beat Brynhildr last night and failed again. So I restarted at the last save and spent an hour grinding to level up my Crystarium stats. I'm gonna beat that bastard sooner or later. Thanks for the haste tip!

... They get worse? Yikes!

Hey man, welcome to PixlBit! This place really has become 1UP: The Next Generation, heh heh. I mean, what's changed? It's pretty cool.

Anyway, great blog. I love these kind of blogs. Good one. Look forward to more whenever you get around to it...

Ha ha! Great review of what sounds like a really awful game. Worst soundtrack ever? That actually makes me wanna hear it XD

Hey Matt, I think I missed something... What does GLaD stand for? I was there for BaD, but not GLaD.

Man, I've read such great things about the Metal Gear series, so back in 2005 I went and bought a copy of Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty. The first sneaking part, which is on a ship at sea, I could not get past. I tried again and again but never made it past those bastards, and from that point on whenever a sneaking part pops up in a game a bust out in a cold sweat :P

Maybe it's time to have another crack at it. I really wanna experience all that crazy Metal Gear stuff I've read about over the years!

And can't beat Dr Pepper!

Nice set-up! I wish I was half as organised. Most of my games are in a big plastic crate.

Good blog! I love reading about the games other people are playing, and which ones they beat (back in the day on the GameCritics forum there was a thread called 'Post Here When You Beat A Game, I Mean It!'.)

I'm really curious about The Witcher since reading about The Witcher 3 coming out next year for next gen consoles. They made it sound like Skyrim but twice as big. Sounds awesome.

As for Fallout 3, yep what a great game. One of the few I put 100+ hours into. And I still haven't finished it...

On the weekend I went back to FFXIII. I started playing it shortly after it was released but got to the boss Aster Protoflorian at 11 hours and couldn't get past it. But this time I managed to put that flowery bastard on its ass XD

Yeah I never got the FFX-2 hate. Although there are enough FF fans who never even liked FFX, so there you go.

Anyway, good to see some love for this wonderful game! Good job.

P.S. This game also has one of the coolest start-of-battle quotes.

Hey Ben sorry to hear about your cat. I know how shitty it is because me and the missus had two of our three cats go in the space of the last twelve months. I guess the only consolation is the end of suffering. ... And escapism through games helps relieve the pain!

I went back to Xenoblade Chronicles a coupla weeks ago. I'd left it a year ago at a bossfight that I kept losing on. I realised it wasn't the boss that put me off, but the pixelated graphics. It felt like I couldn't see what was happening properly, so I've abandoned it. I'll go back to it when they release a HD version.
