I got really fed up with brick breakers mainly because the Xbox controller is just terrible for these games. I watched a youtuber complete NES Arkanoid with the Arkanoid controller you could get for NES. THAT is what I need on Xbox. I may try and get that thing. So, I added some other games to my list and began the deep dive into pinball. Here's all:
Happy New Year! Around this time of year, I like to make a list of games that are releasing in the coming year that I’m looking forward to. Of course, this isn’t a full complete list, as there will assuredly be titles announced throughout the year that I may get as well. But anyway, here’s what I know now, for the most part, so let’s take a look at what games I’m looking forward to in 2024!
I finally stopped playing Microsoft Solitaire Collection on Android in February. I got all the achievements that were fun to get, so I moved on to another game with Xbox achievements, Microsoft Sudoku. It's free but ad supported. Apparently it's not on Game Pass because that's probably how I got the premium edition of Solitaire. I know I didn't purchase it. Ads are annoying but not a game breaker for me.
All done with Halo Infinite. I wasn't too thrilled with returning to Ratchet & Clank for some reason, and so I started clicking the "surprise me" button within the sort drop-down menu in my digital library on Xbox. Here was the result.
I played Lego City Undercover to the end, a little bit of Dead Space 2, Technomancer, Battleship and Pillars of the Earth the other day.
I finished with Fire Emblem: Awakening and Disney Infinity. I started free-2-play game Starlit Adventures on a random roll of the dice. I rage-quit Forza Horison 5 and for relief played Microsoft Solitaire Collection and watched a ton of youtube. Sometimes, I get a bit tired of losing at games.
For years, there has been a heated debate among fans of the Mega Man series regarding which one is the best of the original hexalogy. After the facts have been laid out and philosophical life lessons thoroughly dissected, the debate usually boils down to Mega Man 2 vs. Mega Man 3. Which is the greater of the two? Well, no matter which side you’re on, we can all agree on the thing- the cover art for Mega Man 3 finally got it right! No more awkward stances or that pistol-for-an-arm-cannon nonsense. Of course, he didn’t look as good as on the Famicom cover, but that’s another argument.
It threatened to snow so much, they closed my library. Turns out all we got was a dusting and some ice. But I didn't have to work, so I gamed it up with my gaming buddy. I played on Wii-U and Xbox Series S.

I guess I celebrated Mario in a way by playing my randomly sampled game, Super Smash Bros. on Wii-U. I randomly rolled the Wii-U and the number 3. The game was number 3 on Metacritic's list of best Wii-U games.

Took some time on Tuesday to deliver a game to my friend and then stayed and played some games. Here's what I did.
Mega Man 2 started as a side project that Capcom allowed artist Keiji Inafune’s team to work on during their downtime between higher priority projects. Much of the game's design included leftover ideas that didn’t make it into the inaugural entry. However, a few gameplay refinements and an incredible soundtrack combined to bring forth a classic that still attracts new fans despite being released over 30 years ago. Not bad for a side project.
There is nary a soul out there who hasn’t seen or heard of Snoopy- that lovable beagle in the Peanuts comic dating back to the 1950s. Having existed across various forms of media, it was only a matter of time before Snoopy and friends would end up on a Nintendo system or two. Such was the case in 1990 when Kemco released Snoopy’s Magic Show on the Game Boy. A few years later, one of my sister’s school friends let my brother borrow this game, which I eventually played and completed. Returning to this game as an adult, I have no idea how kid me finished it without a broken spirit.
Here's what I played today, not exactly the same as yesterday.
It keeps you from getting lost when traveling the digital plane. Today I came across three regional aberations that call themselves games. They are, of course, live alogrithms who need a creative input to expand their functionality - to grow, in other words. I played three of them. I wonder how the results changed the cosmic data stream?
This episode of Nerds Without Pants is coming in late, and I don’t have the energy to do a clever show post or time stamps. I’m sorry; I’ll do better next time. In this episode we talk about some of our favorite memories of game related gifts. We go heavy on Ghost of Tsushima, and we squash the PixlBit beef over Donkey Kong Country 2 and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.
Somehow, Nerds Without Pants has been podcasting pantsless for 8 years straight! Angelo joins us for a celebration, lots of reminiscing about console launches, and a good amount of video game talk. This is one of our most fun episodes so far this year, so don’t miss it!
Good morning Pixlpeeps! I hope you all had a wonderful and safe July 4th! We had no fireworks show in my little town but I did watch a bunch of people shoot off some crazy fireworks all around. The family across the park from me had their legal fireworks that just spin on the ground and a bunch of sparklers. I celebrated in my usual style because I am a product of one of those families who came here years ago looking for a better life and I am forever grateful.
I discovered BreakQuest by reading about games like Breakout. All you have to do to get me to play a game is put Quest in the title. I'm enjoying it at home in the spare minutes between shopping and chores today.
