An imagined library of games I would have from the best of the 2010s. In order of rank on the Metacritic list for those years.

I played a lot of games on my 2013-2015 list this Labor Day. I also picked up some games from Just Press Play this week.

I'm looking ahead to September. My playlist will cover 2013-2015, chosen from the greastest of all time lists on Metacritic. But first, some purchases.

2023 was a year that happened and I played games during it, sometimes. Let's talk about it! First we'll take a look at the games I beat and bought and then we'll move onto the Golden Hippo Awards!

It’s the end of the year so you know what that means?  It’s time for my “Best Video Games of 2023 Awards Show!”  Keep in mind that this is my list only and no other outside opinions contributed.  And if a game isn’t on this list, it either just didn’t appeal to me as much or I haven’t had a chance to play it yet.  Ok with that out of the way, let’s begin!

Games Beaten

It's been quite a year! I played a ton of games this year, and there were plenty of games that I wanted to play that I didn't get to (too many games!). Some of those games will roll over into next year. For 2021, I beat a total of 25 games! Instead of talking about all of those, I'll just highlight the ones I really enjoyed this year and after that, I'll tell you my personal Game of the Year. So here are the games I beat this year that I really loved.

Okey dokey. Here are the last titles I’m grabbing from Metacritic. These cover all the games I want to play (or play again) with a 90 rating.

Yeah, apparently that was in February of 2015. I for some reason had it in my mind I bought my PS4 in 2014, which would have been cool matching those 4s up, but oh well.

Jazz Jackrabbit headed to GBA this year, but I still remember playing it on PC at the neighbors'.

Wow what a weekend...what an incredible game yesterday. I thought the Patriots were done....buried. Down 28 to 3 in the 3rd to come back and win 34 to 28...astounding. Whether you hate em or love em...there's no denying that 4th quarter was incredible. But I could go on and on... I have games to show!

Look at that title. I know what you're thinking. What a vague title. Switch to what? Why it's simple. Switching to the Nintendo Switch of Course! I did my best to remain purely impartial.  So I gathered a list of pros and cons or as my pun filled title suggests joy cons (rimshot*) Anyways, bad jokes aside I figure it would be best for me to offer my opinion. Because even though I am a fan. I am privy to Nintendo's manipulative ways. So without further ado...here's the list!

Let me get this out of the way. When Rayman Raving Rabbids was announced for the Nintendo Wii I was excited. In it's initial development Rayman was set for a 3D romp against a crazy mutant Rabbid invasion. What was originally set as a new 3D Rayman platformer became of all things a minigame compilation. This wouldn't be the first teaser for Rayman that Ubisoft failed to deliver on. Remember the initial teaser for Rayman Legends featuring  Rabbid esque amiibo? And that moment when the kid grabbed the Ezio figure to scan it? Nowhere to be found in the final product! But I'm getting off track here. You see the main problem that I have with the Rabbids is that they became popular. And when you get popular you get sequels. And boy there are a ton of Rabbid sequels. There are 4 Rabbid mini game compilations for the Wii, far more than I have time to get into and review, but what happens when one such Rabbid game deviates from the formula? The answer is Rabbids Go Home. A game I bought for $5!

So, I'm a bit late to the party, but lately, I've been playing Super Mario Maker pretty much non stop. Unfortunately, while it is quite good, it's also designed by crazy shut ins who haven't stepped outside since hating hansen was relevant.

I'm going to review Arkham Knight spoiler-free tomorrow for Plus10Damage if no one called dibs. Expect some gushing. Damn game is huge and gorgeous. I am going to mention some of the iffy launch problems and DLC surrounding the game, as well as some game-related flaws/shortcomings, but mostly I'm gonna gush about it.

While I definitely see  the PC Master Race peoples' point, I have to say it feels damn good to have a console again. Especially one that gives me free indie and sometimes newer retail games every month. I mean I pay $50 a year for those "free games," but considering how much I've gotten out of them, I'd say that's a steal considering new games are $60.

I turned 25 Monday, March 23 after having come back from spring break, which was mostly dedicated to entering survey data and shitting. Lots of shitting. For those of you with not much fruit in your diet, I suggest easing back into it. Otherwise, you might have some rumblies when going out to eat with family for St. Paddy's Day and early birthday celebrations. I'm nowhere near where I thought I would be at this age, but I'm not sad about it. Life is good.

Didn't think that 8.3% alcohol content on two beers would hit me so fast when my friends also baked me some pizza rolls with it. But hot damn, those Breakfast stouts. They kick in when you literally haven't eaten all day and just ran about 3 miles in about 24 minutes. Those $140 Saucony shoes I was fitted for DO help.

SFA will face Utah in the first round of the NCAA tournament and hopefully Georgetown thereafter. I feel good about our chances to go to the sweet 16.

Played some more Last of Us Remastered last night and ever since I wrote that article on levels vs. segments for +10damage where I said I prefer having whole levels to get through as opposed to bite-sized segments I've been going back and forth on that opinion. I should have written more about what a huge part context plays in my preference.

Well, I made a Twitch profile and recorded some footage of me playing Rayman Legends ... or so I thought. Don't see anything in my "past broadcasts." Hmm ...

I think I might see about just recording my gameplay on Twitch and posting it here every week day this month. We shall see.
