The Nintendo Direct has concluded and Ocarina of Time was demonstrated for us by Aonuma-san, showcasing all of the new features and the slick new graphics. While I detailed my hopes in yesterday's editorial, unsurprisingly, the remake essentially amounts to a nice new coat of paint and a variety of quality-of-life upgrades. Of course, each area, NPC, and more, have been fully rethought and brought up to modern standards, providing lots of visual flourishes to feast your eyes upon.
Tomorrow, we're due to finally find out what Nintendo has been cooking up next for the Zelda franchise. There's no question that there are few games as beloved as the Ocarina of the Time, which puts Nintendo in an interesting position for this remake. As we all know, the Zelda formula has been totally shaken up with the latest entries, prioritizing emergent gameplay and sandboxes that allow players to explore and create, a total departure from the Ocarina-style that previously defined 3D Zelda.
Around this time of year, I like to make a list of my best games SO FAR, because usually the AAA titles are released later in the year during the holiday season, and the titles that came out earlier tend to be forgotten. So here’s when those games get their due. Keep in mind that this is my list only and no other outside opinions contributed. The Star Fox series has always been special to me. When I turned 8, shortly after the original game came out, my parents surprised me with it on my birthday. At the time, I remember thinking the 3D graphics were incredible and the game was extremely fun. I was addicted to blasting through space and foiling Andross' plans to dominate the universe. Years on, I remember obsessing over my Nintendo Power issues that showed Star Fox 2 - the new characters and crafts looked amazing. Unfortunately, it wouldn't officially see the light of day until I was an adult, but my Star Fox appetite would soon be satiated with Star Fox 64.

With the Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door remake coming out on Switch this month, I thought it would be fun to go back and rate all the games in the Paper Mario series. Games of the Decade: Expansion Pass #25/Blog a Day #6
2020. Gosh. Remember when we looked forward to it, hopefully, being a good year? We had no idea. And while there were big profile delays and disappointments in the game space, there were still a ton of fun games to play. First we'll take a look at the games I beat and bought and then we'll move onto the Golden Hippo Awards!
Hey, guys! 2020 has been a miserable year for the world, so thank God it's over! But it was a really good year for games. This year I was able to beat 25 games, which is almost the most I've ever done in a year. Most of you know that I'm a huge Nintendo fan, so most of these are Nintendo games or games on Nintendo consoles (although I would like to get a PS4, but not sure if that'll happen). As always, I beat some really great retro games this year too. So without further ado, here are the games I beat in 2020.
Of all of Nintendo’s game series, the Paper Mario titles have probably had the most ups and downs. On one hand, you have what many consider to be one of the best RPGs ever made! And on the other end, you have what others, including myself, believe to be one of Nintendo’s worst games! Ouch! The newest game in the series, Paper Mario: The Origami King, came out earlier this year, so I thought it might be fun to rank them.
Recently, Netflix launched High Score, a new documentary series on the history of video games. I thought it was entertaining enough that I wanted to discuss and review it here on this blog. So here’s my thoughts on the six episode series!
