I'm honestly a little upset I didn't get one in 2014. I just would have liked to have a Playstation FOUR in Twenty-FOURteen. Oh well.
I own a Switch now! Christmas was very good this year! I got Zelda to go with it. I’m still very early into the game and I feel like it’s so tremendously huge that a journal-like review with multiple entries would be the only appropriate way for me to offer proper impressions. So I might start a new blog series about Zelda.

So whatsacow recently put up a blog about what you prefer in a game, mechanics v story etc. It's a good blog. Go read it! Someone also made a comment about how some interactive experiences don't qualify as games and the term 'game' is too broad of an umbrella and some things really shouldn't qualify. It might be the same blog, I can't remember. Food for thought.
This is more about 'do you ever try new types of games that you otherwise stayed away from for some reason (no interest, too complicated, etc.) and if you made the jump into a new game type what was it, did you enjoy/regret or were your initial pereceptions correct and it just wasn't for you?
I'll go first...
Last few years I've been playing MMOs, mostly because of blogs that I read that inspired me and they were right. I really enjoyed Star Trek Online, Lord of the Rings Online, Rift and Secret World. Mostly because of Free to Play models and because of the 'themepark' design that focuses on single player.
I also played a bit of Warframe, a co-op shooter like Destiny that is free on PC and PS4. I mostly tried it out because of the Sci-Fi theme (read my Sci-Fi blog for more) and thought it was great. However, I played Nosgoth, a very similar Counterstrike type game with Vampires and hated it immediately because of the shitty community/chat/harassment.
Lastly, Strategy RPGs.
I don't normally play SRPGs because they seem complicated and slow, but I played through Blackguards 2 on PC recently and it was accessible enough for me to get into due to it's linear and directed nature, although it was way to fucking slow and I wouldn't recommend it despite it's beautiful presentation and depressing story. I want to try out more strategy games now.

This was all but inevitable. With the release of new hardware, the PS4, it was only a matter of time that content and support for last generation systems would come to pass. And it looks like one of the first items to be cut will be Sony’s attempt to create a 3D gaming hub world on the PS3. Back in August Sony announced that they were shutting down Playstation Home in Japan. Though there was no word if the US or EU servers were to suffer the same fate as Japan’s, word came out later last month that they too would be shutting down on March 31st 2015. Sony plans to launch a large scale event to thank all the dedicated users of the service but plans were not forthcoming on exactly what was to take place.
Sorry for not posting on this site anymore, I found a new job, bought a whole bunch of games, picked up a PS4 at launch and got seriously distracted by Battlefield 4 on the PS4(those 64 player matches are crazy awesome when the game works). So lately I've been playing a lot on my PS4, it would have been amazing cool if Watchdogs didn't get delayed. PS4 games that I own at the moment are Need for Speed: Rivals, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Lego Marvel Superheroes; then there is Contrast and Warframe which are downloadable titles. No real problems to report other than my PS4 tends to have a hard time connecting to the PSN. My friends list shows up but connecting to game servers tends to be inconsistent, the "What's New" list doesn't load at times. Other than that, I'm satisfied with my purchase.
With the upcoming release of next gen consoles, this year’s Gamescom was bigger than it has been for years. The console war is in full effect, and Sony and Microsoft are doing their best to dazzle us with exclusives, indie support, and price-drops. If you're having trouble keeping up, we've summed up the news we think is the most important from the show so far.
So as most of ya'll know, I played the beta for the new FF MMO game and I enjoyed it enough to throw out my patience and buy it for the PS3 and then Ill switch to the PS4 verison once it releases. I actually felt like I was playing a Final Fantasy game again. Which is kind of sad in some ways that it took a MMO to do the trick. Those that have seen me speak of FF13 know I do not speak ighly or good of it. I played like 30 mins of it and gave my sister the controller because the game was complete trash to me in those first moments of it. Final Fantasy hasnt been itself for years. While I do like FF10 and 12 they werent up to the same standards as the previous games. I lost a lot of faith with FF13 and some of it has been regained with FF14. If FF15 is as good as it looks so far I might just gain more faith back in Square.
Even with E3 over, there is still a lot of information to take in and soak on our minds about the coming gaming years ahead for consoles. PS4 wise I think its gonna be some great years. Sony has kept me happy enough that Im totally ready for a PS4 now. I still got a ways to wait but no less excited. While Sony is making online pay to play through PS+ they are doing the right thing by telling publishers no online passes. They refuse to accept the passes on any PS4 games. PS+ will also carry over on all Sony systems. While I use to play online on the PS4, my PS3 will still have access to it and its benefits. As far as I know, they dont plan to discontinue instant game collection for the PS3 or Vita. They have also said that the free to play games Warframe, Planetside 2, and Dc Universe online will not require PS+ to play. They have also announced that within the first year of the PS4, they will launch 20 exclusives on the system. Now, this doesnt mean Im counting the Xbone out, they so far have stated a change in policies for the system and as long as that stays Ill consider getting one sooner then I previous thought of. Im still gonna wait a time before I have one in my room. It will also be unplugged when I am not playing on it. Also Fable 4 has seen no announcemt yet so that def helps hold off waiting for it.
Well I am yet again up late and can not sleep. Im quite used to it and I still live by the fact I was a Vampire in my previous life. It would make complete since as to why I feel alive and just more like myself at night. If that makes no sense to you, Im sorry but there isnt much more of a way to explain it. Anywho on to randomness!
