I'm getting closer to the end of my 360 games now, but it may be a few more weeks still before I move on to PS3 or Wii. I really can't wait to start those. 

Also played some Game Boy and a whole lot of Switch games. 

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen an entry in the Metroid Prime series - 18 years, in fact. It was 8 years ago that Metroid Prime 4 was originally announced and its development was more than a little turbulent. Initially developed by Bandai Namco, it was later scrapped completely and development was shifted back to Retro Studios to start the project over. In the end, Retro has delivered a solid new entry in the series, but one that doesn’t totally capture what originally made the series so compelling.

Games Beaten

I'm going to focus on the three titles that grabbed my attention, and most of my time, this week. Also a surprise new purchase at the end. 

It's February and I have begun reviewing Console Generation 2, or rather, the years '77-'83 and all games both arcade, PC and maybe even board games. Here goes:

Another year has come and gone. 2022 was a great year for games! I was able to beat 29 games this year. Keep in mind that some of these were old games that were fairly short (such as the original Castlevania and Castlevania III for NES). There were some standout games this year. I'm going to talk about my favorite games that I beat this year (some of which didn't come out this year, but some certainly did). Then I'm going to give 3 awards: Best Game Collection, Best Soundtrack, and of course, my Game of the Year. So let's get on with it.

It's been quite a year! I played a ton of games this year, and there were plenty of games that I wanted to play that I didn't get to (too many games!). Some of those games will roll over into next year. For 2021, I beat a total of 25 games! Instead of talking about all of those, I'll just highlight the ones I really enjoyed this year and after that, I'll tell you my personal Game of the Year. So here are the games I beat this year that I really loved. 

We got adventure, brawling, FPS, open-world action, and a racing game in this group. 

While I was trying to stick to my retro game playing, my friend was still deep into Dishonored 2. As an assassin, he had lots of bodies to hide and it was funny to watch him fill up bathtubs and decorative ponds with them. Kind of gruesome but the physics of throwing a whole body around in this game is pretty funny. 

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was an odd beast for many reasons. It originally released in 2011 for the Wii, and had a lot of expectations to live up to, both from fans and from Nintendo's financial department. Unfortunately, it met with a sharply divided reception among both, in no small part because Skyward Sword often got in its own way with its design.

After a breaking from games for a while, I've felt like playing something. Not sure what, if anything, I want to commit to, so I've been briefly revisiting some old favorites I've had on my mind, and trying out some titles I've been interested in, through demos or...other means

Basically, it's Darkest Dungeon on PS4 and Torchlight III on Xbox One, but I also played a single 9 inning game of MLB The Show 21 and got my Farm Together lands down to 14. I also downloaded Path of Exile, a free-to-play action RPG to play sometime in the future. You can stop here or read on. You choose your own reading adventure. 

First up on my journey are launch games, November 2001. I have two and another on the way but I have to start with what I know best and that's Halo: Combat Evolved.
