In console gaming, there is a legend known as the Third Console Curse. Most consoles are not successful enough to receive a follow-up. If they are, then a third console is still not guaranteed. It is a hard industry not only to break into, but sustain a market share in. Yet something happens with the third console every time. It fails to meet the company's initial goals. Maybe it still sells fine, maybe the console has a wonderful library of games. Even if that is the case, the company loses market share and is in a worse spot at the end of the console's life than they were going into it. It could be arrogance from success. It could be a lack of perspective from being too used to success. Maybe it's just rotten luck. But it's consistent.

Let’s face it, the Xbox One Reveal and all of the events that followed it have been disastrous. Not only has it enraged many gamers and the online community, but it has also caused many of the Microsoft fans to jump aboard the Sony Train.
As Social Media and the Internet envelop us more and more, I see the dangers of being too obsessed with celebrities and their lives and fandoms for various franchises. Too many people, most of them young and naive, seem more interested in spending every waking hour they have talking about a celebrity they are obsessed with or a book series they read religiously than about taking care of their own lives. Perhaps these lives might be sordid cases of abuse, neglect and frustration, others might have a mental illness. I doubt any normal human being could spend hours online obsessing over some Hollywood celebrity or a book/movie series/T.V. show. I would find it very boring after 10 minutes but there are people whose entire life is built around over a celebrity. I only hope these people look in the mirror and realize that they are wasting their lives and mental health over it. All humans, regardless of their station in life, are equal and should be treated equally. They are not to be worshiped like a God. I am equal to 7 billion others, no more, no less. Society would be better if these individuals would wake up, smell the coffee and think about themselves instead of some wealthy celebrity who wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. It makes them look second-rate. Sadly, most of them take that advice as an insult. I guess life wouldn't be worth living if it weren't for their obsessions. Well, at least the Goth movement will be happy to gain new members.

We’ve let the dust settle and even waited long enough for some of the controversial policies to get reversed since E3 wrapped up, but we’ve got plenty of opinions about this year’s show. Each of us came into it with slightly different expectations and varying levels of optimism and negativity. Some of us were pleasantly surprised and others were given the huge serving of “meh” we anticipated. Read through each of the PixlBit staff’s impressions of E3 2013 and see whose opinions most closely align with yours.
So Microsoft is now backtracking on some of the Xbox One's "Key Features" by stating that they are no longer going to impose DRM, always online, restrictions on lending/reselling, etc...

Peter Molyneux shocked the gaming world last week when he resigned from his posts at Lionhead and Microsoft’s European gaming arm. It was only logical that Lionhead Studios' co-founder would take up Molyneux’s position there, but Microsoft went another route entirely.

On the heels of a record breaking first day, Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has done the expected and shattered the five-day sales record for all entertainment-based media. The game has taken in a staggering $775 million worldwide in that timeframe, destroying the previous record held by last year’s Black Ops that made $650 million in the same span and Modern Warfare 2’s $550 million.

Just yesterday, Microsoft revealed just how impressive of a success Kinect has been since it hit the market earlier this month. In the 25 days that peripheral has been on the market, 2.5 million units have been sold to consumers around the world.
